Is this ad for real?

I saw this ad online today, just curious if this is legit? No shooting, no test, and 7 years?

They are probably teaching a Florida CHL class and then using that to encourage people to carry in Texas under reciprocity. Not the best way to carry IMHO. The Florida class would cover Florida law, not Texas law, etc. There are several places doing something similar. You can find them by searching the web.

It's got to be Florida. This link http://macdaddyscigars.com/7yr_4hr_chl.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; says state fee $112 which matches Florida. $150 is kinda high for a 4 hour class and no shooting though. :totap:

I can get a photo done for a buck in a photo booth and get my fingerprints done for free if I shoplift.

Some people think $140 is kinda high for a 5 year license. :biggrinjester:

I think $5 a year is just about right. No complaint here.

:thumbs2: CHL should cost no more than a DL.

Unless Florida law has changed, you don't have to take any course, including the Florida course, if you have proof that you know how to shoot handguns. I got a Florida license in the early 1990's and all I had to do was send a copy of my USPSA member card, along with the application and fee.

Could you send a copy of your Texas CHL and do the same?

Especially when anyone can take the Texas Hunters Safety Education course for $15 and use that as proof of training for a Florida non-resident license. Some other states offer their hunter safety courses for free, and that means free training for the Florida license.

Maybe. A CHL-100 meets the 790.06(2)(h) requirement but I'm not sure a photocopy of a non-FL CHL would do.

Yes. When I got my Florida license, they would accept anything that indicated you had some form of firearms training or experience shooting handguns. It also didn't matter how old it was and the example was a DD214 from World War I.
