Iowa concealed carry licensee nabs five fugitives (some of whom are apparently armed) who eluded police and holds them at gunpoint until backup arrives.

This concealed carry license holder is a very brave individual.

Holding 5 people at gun point sure doesn't sound like a fun situation to be in but kudos to him for pitching in and surviving.

I'd like to think that I'd come to the aid of law enforcement if needed, but I don't think I would chase and apprehend armed suspects. Not only could it get me killed, but if I survived and had to shoot the suspects, I would not have the same criminal or civil protections that law enforcement have. Even if I weren't prosecuted by the DA, the families could still sue and possibly win. And even if they didn't win, I'd still have to take time off from work and pay for a lawyer.

Unless someone's life is in immediate danger, I'm sticking back.

But I applaud the CHL'er in the story that had the courage to take a bite out of crime. Emboldens the mantra that we're the good guys.

You are 100% correct. What would you do if they tried to run while you had them at gunpoint? Shoot? What if they attacked the CHL holder? Glad things worked out OK but not what I would have done.

That's my concern as well, the thugs can be caught later, the officer's health is priority.
