29 Days and still waiting. Already did my CCW shopping (Glock 30Gen4) and waiting for AlienGear to ship my holster.
In all fairness, DPS should be put on the clock when they actually received the packet. Did you send it signature required?
Why is that? If I submit my application electronically on week 1, and file my CHL-100 electronically on week 3. But they don't dust the cobwebs off of it until week 9. Why does it matter if they start the clock on week 1 or week 3?

They have no way of knowing that the paperwork was a week or two late, They certainly demonstrate that by the fact that if I call on week 6 to ask if they have everything they tell me they cant see it.
Because they don't start until they have received the completed application along with all associated documentation.
They don't start until they get to it. Usually 5 to 10 weeks past submission. By then the paperwork has caught up. Prior to that if asked they cant tell you if the paperwork is even there. So how do they know until they start processing?

Doesn't matter to me mine was sent within a week of each other.

When I asked if they had everything they needed, they told me they could not tell. They couldn't see my app, and wouldn't until at least 60 days had passed.
Really? Look down a few posts and you will see a member that had an 11 day turn around. Many members have been reporting plastic in hand in less than 60 days (mailbox to mailbox).
They were able to tell me the day after I submitted my renewal online that they had everything they needed.
I have seen those quick turnarounds. And I have seen that people can see status the day after they submit.

But as you are also well aware, many don't get quick turn arounds, and many don't get status updates. Mine doesn't even get the status screen after 7+weeks.

My point is if they can't tell me today if my CHL-100 form has been properly attached to my app... Mine and many others are on the bottom of a big stack in the corner of the room. When they get to it, they get to it. By the time someone starts working on it it will not have had anything to do with the fact that the docs were a week late.

When they get to mine, they will look to see if it is complete. If it is they will process it. If it is incomplete, they will wait about 4 weeks and send me a letter.

Obviously those with quick turn arounds were not late getting in their docs or they would not have had quick turn arounds. The 60 day guideline for a response from DPS starts when they have all the materials.

Simply put, if you want to gage the amount of time it took DPS to process your CHL you can't start the clock until they have everything they need to process your CHL. Unless of course you have some other agenda.

Never said that. Never came close to saying anything like that. I was responding to another members statement about when the DPS clock should start ticking.
If you submitted all your docs electronically on the same day you submitted your app then that is when the clock should start ticking. If you wait 2 weeks after completing your app to submit your docs then the clock should start ticking the day you submitted the docs. It would be difficult to expect a 30 day turn around from the day you submitted your app if you didn't submit the supporting docs until two weeks after you completed your app.

New to the forum! :tiphat:

completed class - 5/3/14
online application - 5/3/14
fingerprinted - 5/6/14
submitted chl -100, and checklist via USPS certified mail - 5/7/14
signed received by TXDPS in Austin - 5/13/14

as of today (37 days after received by DPS, yet feels like a year!), the DPS website still reads:

"License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page."

should I be concerned? should I re-submit by email?

:waiting:
class+ app - 5/3/14
fingerprinted - 5/6
sub'd papers via USPS- 5/7
rec'd by TXDPS - 5/13
re-sub'd via email - 6/20
Rec. conf. - 6/23
Called TXDPS - 7/3
Emailed state rep - 7/4
Called, told it mailed - 7/10
In the mailbox- 7/11

Welcome to the forum. Waiting stinks, but before you know it you will be completing your renewal app.
