Wow. I called DPS today to see why my status hadn't been updated in a month. The lady who answered was incredibly rude and told me that it would take 2 months for the process to even start. When I asked her if that meant it was supposed to take 4 months total, she curtly said "Yes!." After asking to speak to a supervisor, she hung up on me. :mad5

It does take close to 2 months before they can verify your docs are there, sounds like she actually gave you accurate info.

From what I understand, the DPS has 60 days to do one of three things: Issue your license, request more info. from you, or issue a denial. If none of that happens within 60 days, I'd be contacting my state representative.

Howdy Gents! I'm new to the forum. I'm one of you that have been waiting a while wondering when my status will be updated from "Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page."

04/26/2014 Took CHL Class
04/26/2015 Completed Online Registration and Received Checklist/Barcode

05/02/2014 Mailed off entire Packet
06/12/2014 Emailed Customer Relations to Check Status: No Response

Day Count: 47 and Counting

I just don't even see how 11 days is possible. I know I'm new here, but I'm skeptical on that. Is there a single other person that's ever heard of anything close to that time?

This is exactly what my instructor told me to do, if I did not have plastic in hand within 60 days.

I have recommended this on many occasions. Everyone I know who has gone this route received an immediate response from DPS and has had plastic in hand within 10 days. DPS does not like legislative inquiries. Just make sure the rep you are contacting is pro gun.

How do you find out what rep you have? I'm only going on day 39 but just curious because 60 will be here shortly

I was just as surprised. I think there was a guy that got his in like 14 days. I applied for the veteran CHL, and I used to have a security clearance in the military, so maybe that helped my application get processed faster. Other than that, I don't know what to say, good luck, I guess.
