5/2/14 Subitted initial online App
5/3/14 CHL class
5/5/14 Fingerprints
5/8/14 Subitted CHL-100 and bar code letter
5/8/14 received Dannette Caballero email stating all documents received

I have mentally started my clock on 5/8 as that is when my app was actually "completed" in terms of required documents. But I guess it entered the queue on 5/2.
I'm no expert as I am just as new to this as you are. I would imagine the clock starts "mentally" when all of the information was received. The thing is, from what I read on here, the clock starts once it has all been looked over (and ok'd) and you have the "manufacture pending" status...soon from then you should have your plastic on the way. Just my .02¢. I'm also reading a lot about the 2 month rule. I hear it's pointless to even check your status before 2 months.
There are people in the April thread that have gotten plastic right at the 30 day mark.

Not to say status change will or will not show up. But past months hold little bearing. Feb and March guys are mostly 60 days+... April guys seem to be 30-60. No one from May has received anything or gotten a status update to my knowledge.
Yeah I smell what you're cookin'...you and I were closer to the beginning of May so hopefully we'll have word sooner than later. I have been reading about application overloads on here too. Like I said, hopefully sooner than later.

I took the class on 2/8/2014 and sent in all required forms on 2/9/2014 electronically. I have sent several requests for status updates via email and received absolutely no response. On May 7th I called and actually spoke to a specialist who claimed they were going to send in an escalation to their supervisor so that the processing of my application would begin since it had been over 90 days. To date I have no license and website still showing that they are waiting for supporting documents. The crazy thing about the entire process is that I took the class with my 72 year old father and sent in his documents electronically the day after I submitted mine. He has had his CHL in hand for over a month now. No one I've spoken with could explain to me how this happened. Good luck to all of you who just took the class, I've all but given up hope that I will ever receive mine.

First time poster.

Applied online 4/27; fingerprinted 4/29; CHL class completed 5/6; checklist, CHL-100 and proof of fingerprinting scanned and uploaded via the "Contact" page.

Since the checklist instructs to email or mail the documents --and no email address or instruction is provided for emailing application documents --I requested that I receive confirmation that the documents were received and that I had properly submitted. Two weeks later and no reply so I went ahead and mailed the original checklist and CHL-100 with the proof of fingerprinting. I am now three weeks into the waiting process and still don't know if they have the documents. I understand they are busy, but how long can it take to give a one line response to an email request for confirmation? Not very encouraging. :confused5
4/23/14 -- applied online; 4/29/14 -- electronic fingerprints.
5/7/14 -- docs uploaded on chl site; 5/13/14 -- docs mailed.
9/5/14 -- plastic arrived in the mailbox

That is super frustrating and as much as I don't like to think so, that is probably what's going to happen to me. I can already feel it. I received a DWI arrest on May 28, 2006 and in court it was reduced to a reckless driving charge. I was told (and the paper work says) that I was serving deferred adjudication, but it never did come off of my record. It just states "DWI reduced Reckless Driving". It has been passed the 5 year waiting period and I haven't been in trouble since. I was young and dumb. I just know that, that is going to prolong my situation. I would definitely get on the phone and ask again. I would ask several times through several phone calls if needed. Three months is a long time, espescially if you have a clean record. Good luck and I hope everything works out. I'm sure I'll be in the several month club with you soon enough.

What month did you submit? What month did you receive? Out of curiosity...

So, is anyone from May getting a status yet? When I go to https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/chl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... And enter my DL# and DOB, I get a screen asking if I want to start an application.

Is that what others get?

The message you should be getting is as follows:

"License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page."

This is the message I've been getting and I submitted 5/4 and the state had my paperwork by 5/12. I hear status changes don't even begin to appear until 2 months time. Although, there are some rare cases where people receive updates, back ground completions, and plastics in hand, in less than 2 months time.

Checked the website today.... FINALLY a status update, I know they are still verifying background check and fingerprints but I'm just happy to see some of those green checks.
