Hillary Clinton: Gun culture 'way out of balance'

Post by gthaustex »

IMHO Hillary has gotten way out of balance....

http://news.yahoo.com/hillary-clinton-g ... ction.html

She says "the U.S. needs to rein in the notion that anybody can have a gun, anywhere, anytime."
The former secretary of state and potential 2016 Democratic presidential candidate said the idea that anyone can have a gun is not in the "best interest of the vast majority of people." But she said that approach does not conflict with the rights of people to own firearms
She has obviously never talked to the large number of people who use firearms for self-defense and as usual, continues to focus on the headline incidents.

Something else she said also floored me. While talking about recent shootings involving loud music or texting she said,
"That's what happens in the countries I've visited where there is no rule of law and no self-control and that is something that we cannot just let go without paying attention,"
That's quite a statement coming from her, considering her background, recent Secretary of State activities and the current administration.

Well, we know what her campaign platform is going to be, then.

Whether or not she has talked to those who have used firearms for self defense is not an issue, what the issue is is that she just doesn't care. She is another elitist who knows what is right for the rest of us and "What difference does it make?"

It may seem like a contradiction but it isn't to her and the rest of the ruling oligarchy. Laws are not intended to apply to THEM, just to us serfs. Also, the statement begins with a typical anti-gun lie. There is no notion in the US that "anybody" can have a gun "anywhere" at "anytime." Many many people are excluded from having a gun and many more from having a gun anywhere at anytime. These oligarchs can't open their mouths without lying. Hitlerly is a narcissistic sociopath.

To reign in. To exert control. She is saying that the U.S. Federal Government needs to exert control over the general population and control what they may have, whether it be guns, babies, life or whatever. And the federal government should be in charge of it all.

" US needs to reign in proliferation of guns"

I hope she continues to keep talking about infringing on our rights before the midterms.

Hillary is one contradiction after another, just like her fellow progressives. It is easy for someone with the finest bodyguard service in the world to feel completely safe unarmed. After all, she has guys around her who are literally paid to take a bullet for her.

Just yesterday she was lighting up the twitterverse, hashtagging about those 300 girls who were kidnapped in Nigeria by Islamic militants, never considering that this is what happens when you create a class of defenseless, unarmed people. Isn't that the progressive utopia she has been hard selling? And I have bad news for Hillary, the guys who are in the process of selling these children, are not intimidated by her hashtags.

Meanwhile, Obama is lamenting climate change and telling us he is going to dial down our energy use, all the while he is spending millions on vacations, parties and $8,500 dollar a night hotel rooms like any good dictator.

With these zealots, it is one rule for me, another for thee and they don't feel a bit hypocritical about it.

Yeah there are lots of these, and Hillary may indeed be one of them, but as I've said here before, she may also simply be one of those many people who were born, raised, and educated outside of mainstream American life, and therefore JUST DOESN'T KNOW ANY BETTER i.e. if she lived in a normal neighborhood where she'd interacted with Other-than-Elitest-Class America she would know for example that the nice neighbor lady is a deer hunter, and in fact that most everyone on the block has firearms or at least has healthy attitudes about firearms.

I truly do not know how you educate these people, particularly as the main interactions they have with people NOW are those who are like-minded or otherwise hopeless suck-ups vs. free thinkers. Any "town hall meetings" or man-on-the-street encounters are never going to, by themselves, get these people to understand just how deeply engrained guns are with average flag-waving, freedom-loving Americans.

The other thing I'll never understand is how these people fail to notice how much the US economy is involved with firearms, from raw material sourcing to manufacturing to distribution and sales and accessories and... my gosh if guns are ever banned or restricted millions of jobs would be impacted.

I don't like the Clintons in the least, but they are a politically savvy couple. In view of the sharply declining support for gun control among citizens (not liberals in office) in the U.S. , I'm more than a little surprised that she would make such a statement. I would have thought that she would have learned from his husband's gross miscalculation on the assault weapons ban in 1994.
