Yeah, what a buzzkill! I was about to be both happy for you and jealous as all-get-out for having your stuff mailed in under a month after document receipt.

But she did say in the 2nd email that my package was received and to allow 6-8 weeks for processing. You would think the website would have been updated after this but that would be too much like right. :banghead:

Well apparently it doesn't update for anyone until they actually start to work on it. I think it would be useful to rework the system so that documents are marked "received" as they come in. Because right now, for all I know, my fingerprints may not have made it or my CHL instructor may have sent in the class completion form late. Or I'm just impatient...haha
Some people see it as a shooting range. I see it as a Second Amendment theme park.

After following the forum I think you mail or upload it, they get it, put it in a pile and get to it when they get to it. Then they work on it for a few days or longer depending on the background check, and it all updates. Of course by the time it updates you pretty much get the chl within a week or two. It's kinda nice when you get the update though cause you know it will be soon!

I'm just wondering if my time schedule is within norms. I see some with the same or similar timeline have received updates/license and some have not.

3/4 applied online
3/12 fingerprints
3/17 mailed CHL-100 along with receipt for fingerprints

Status still says waiting documents.

I emailed 4/15 requesting a status update, no response. I emailed again today requesting a status update. I think I'll call next Monday if I don't hear anything. I'd just like to know my package was not lost. No, I did not send with tracking or return receipt.

The only oddity is that I took the class in Feb 2013. Life got in the way, but I did not see anything about an expiration date or a timeline. The state sure took my money fast enough.

I think the chl-100 is good for 2 years. But the timeline for them starts when they get your whole packet, so if you sent it 3/17, it should update anytime now. I uploaded mine 3/17 and got my first update today.

I am in the same boat. We actually sent our forms in at the same time (3/17) and my Certified mail stated "delivered" on March 19th. I also took my CHL class in February of 2013. Funny Coincidence. I would expect to see both of our status changes around the same time. Now we wait impatiently...

New Guy here!

So after mailing in my packet on March 14, I received my first update today.

License Status: Application packet has been received from the applicant, the application is in progress. Show receipt
Application : Received
Fingerprints : Complete
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Under review
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Not received, notice sent to applicant
Proof of Proficiency training : Not received, notice sent to applicant
Fee : Received
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review

I sent the CHL-100 paper in with all of the other things, so I'm not sure how they didn't receive that and they did receive everything else. However, I didnt make a copy of the CHL-100 form.. is there anyway to get another one of those???

Any advice is appreciated!!

That is good news! I was hoping that was not what was holding up the updates. Thanks!

trogers, it appears you may have to get another CHL-100 and upload to website. Or you may can call and obtain a fax number. But a call seems necessary on your part.

First, I would contact the CHl instructor and ask for a copy of the paperwork you are in need of and have that in hand. You should be receiving something from DPS informing you of what they need. Once you get that letter(snail mail), call Austin. When,(if) you get through to a live person, explain your situation and ask to speak to the specialist that is working your application, there will be an application number on the letter you receive. The specialist will be able to help you. Remember, be nice and be patient. I had a similar situation, lost paperwork, but the specialist was able to locate it while I was on the phone with her. Good luck :)

same thing happened to me... MY CHL-100 was missing a date filled in. I resubmitted and now I get to wait again. I'm at a total of 61 days waiting but only about 9 days since they received my up-dated documents. I submitted everything via snail mail originally but the updated form I emailed back to them.

If they found an error on your chl-100 like they did mine they will send it back to you with what it needs. It should arrive in your mailbox in a couple days.

Thanks everyone! After a short 37 minutes on hold, I finally got a hold of someone in Austin. The lady told me that a signature was missing on the CHL-100 form and that it was mailed back to me yesterday. A bit of relief I guess knowing at least that they received the form. I mailed in all of my stuff on the 14th of March originally so, even though it seems as if the wait has been forever, it felt good to at least see an update. Good luck to all of you! I hope this doesn't delay me too much longer.

Still on background check review. :banghead: must be all that time I spent in the mafia. Or perhaps that fly I killed last year... :smilelol5:
