Woohoo... Yesterday 3/11 my status on the web went to everything complete except background check which is in process.. So I am 39 days in and hopefully will go complete soon. Hang in there guys!
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review
Yeah on 3/17 my status went manufacture pending and then yesterday 3/19 it went mailed! Now I just have to wait for the mailman. :thumbs2:

Now I can stop checking the DPS website 42 times an hour! The top 10 other positives of my status change:
1. Comcast will stop sending me emails complaining about my data usage
2. At&t will unlock my phone after accusing me of causing a DOS (denial of service) attack on the DPS website
3. I can finally take a shower again
4. I can get a new keyboard after wearing out the keypad typing my diver license number over and over
5. I can feed the dog and water the plants
6. I can go back to work (darn!)
7. I can stop carrying 6 different holsters and guns around the house trying to decide what I can actually conceal
8. I will stop pestering my wife asking can you see my gun now? How about now? What about here?
9. I can stop causing an undue load on Texaschlforum constantly spreadsheeting and mapping all of the other applicants timelines
10. And the number 1 benefit... I can legally carry!!!
"rlol" :smilelol5: :clapping:

Yeah!!! Now where's that mailman??? He usually comes at 2pm. I wonder if I go to the station if they will let me help unload the intercity truck? Hmmm maybe if I went to Austin I could help stamp the mail... "rlol" "rlol" "rlol"

Called DPS, waited on hold for 19 minutes, told the wait is long and "it can take 90 days for documents to attach to application, and another 90 days for background check to be completed and license mailed".

What? There are people on here that filed after me and already have their license. I'm calling back on Monday and hoping to get someone who cares.
Ugh...
Just called for the 3rd time. This time I found out they "sent incorrect emails to people saying everything was received, but my electronic submission did not transmit the file attachments". WHAT? :fire

So, no one before (in my emails or phone calls) could tell me this? So I sent it all again. How can I submit everything, wait two weeks to find out "all docs are submitted and no further action is needed"...and after almost 90 days find this out?

Here's hoping it's not another 90 days to find out something else is wrong.

The funny thing, my CHL in Portland, Oregon was literally a 30 day process. That's in liberal country with massive government. Here in Texas I fully expected a more pleasant and expedient process. :banghead:

I have almost the same story except I'm on day 119! Received and email saying they had everything; finally after the third call they asked me to email all my info again and they would give it to a supervisor .... so, I did. Got a status update a week later that said my "special situation" info was not acceptable. My dd214 did not show an "honorable discharge .... only separation from the service"..... so I emailed the discharge papers and a week later get a letter in the mail requesting the same forms. Sent the forms back by snail mail the same day and still I wait! I don't think they even read email responses at all.....I have considered just getting chl from a State with reciprocity. I'm a lifelong born and bred Texan and really don't like the process nor runaround that I've experienced.

A good instructor would have covered the DD214 issue. Mine did in detail.

Mailed the checklist in with completion form via snail mail mid-January and still no update. Tried uploading it from scans on the 10th of February. Not sure if I uploaded it wrong or what. How else has everyone been doing it? Also, I pleaded no contest to a Disturbing the Peace charge last summer for a noise complaint in Tulsa, OK, what paperwork if any would I have to submit?
Thanks
Just an update: I've been in background review for over a month because of the noise complaint. Got a letter from CHL department saying they needed the Judgment and Sentencing. Turns out it never went on my record and the fine I paid was all that happened. Sent a nice lady at the CHL the court case record to hopefully clear everything up. Fingers are crossed this process ends soon.

Well here's good news!

1/7/14: All docs uploaded & emailed through DPS website
1/18/14: Email stating all docs received and no further action needed
3/7/14: Website still says "application received, waiting on documents"

After everything was "lost" and re-submitted...finally:

Application : Received
Fingerprints : Complete
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Fee : Received
Background Check : Completed
Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending

Hopefully it gets manufactured and mailed quickly!! A 4.5 month process is always fun!
