I feel bad posting this while so many others have heard nothing, but I was updated to mailed on 3/1. I assume that means it was sent the day before since that was a Saturday?

I wouldn't have expected this, but the wait between being updated to mailed and plastic has so far been worse that the wait for them to start processing my app. Hoping to have my permission slip from uncle Tex in my mailbox today...

So tomorrow will be one week from when my status changed to mailed. Any takers on whether I'll have it in my mailbox or not?

This is ridiculous. I've been in the stage Background Check: Under Review for 6 weeks now. I called DPS 3 weeks ago and was told that my background check had already been finished with no problems at all as expected. He told me they just needed to put my picture in the system to print my card. I was told to check the site again in 2 weeks. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and have waited an extra week but there has been no change. I'm going to call them again tomorrow.

I submitted both mine and my wife's paperwork on the same day back in January. I've been checking the site daily - often several times a day - for an update.

I've been keeping my wife up to date on the overall progress and she just nods her head and says uh-huh.

Guess which one of got their license in the mail today and who did not.

You guessed it! She's legal to carry and here I sit broken hearted. :banghead:

Oh we'll, there's always tomorrow!

Mine said mailed last Friday 2/28, and I've been checking the mail every day this week and still no plastic. I hope it comes tomorrow. My mailman is dumb sometimes and puts things in my neighbors mailbox. Thankfully they let me know.

Online Registration: 12/30/13
Fingerprinted: 01/02/14
Class: 01/04/14
Packet Submit On-Line: 01/06/14
Email confirmation of submission: 01/06/14
System updated to date: NONE ... continue to get the "waiting on the receipt of required materials" message

Called today (02/19/14 - now 45 days from packet submission) and on-hold 22 min before getting "assistance" whereby was told I need to wait because it takes 60 days to process :mad5 and she was unable to tell me if they had all the materials :mad5 :mad5

2/12 sent email request asking for status - never received a response

2/24 sent another email request asking for status - NEVER received a response

3/1 send another email request asking for status - you guessed it ... NEVER received a response

3/6 update - Here's what I've learned: , submitting a question for "status" via the web site "https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/contact/default.aspx" is a complete waste of time. You don't get a response. Calling prior to day 60 is also a waste of your time because all they will tell you is WAIT (although if you ask they CAN tell you what documents have been keyed ... but that does NOT mean they've keyed all your documents (Yes, that's crazy but it's a fact of their process!)). You have to call ... and wait on hold. Even that is hit and miss. ADVICE You need to call and politely tell them when you reach the 60 day mark for your submission. I did that yesterday, and was transferred to a "specialist" who told me they were still processing January applications (which leads me to believe they are all in one big basket somewhere). However he did ask me to email all my forms to him and he would process that day ... I did ... and he did! :hurry:

3/7 update - my status finally changed
Online Registration: 12/30/13
Fingerprinted: 01/02/14

I can understand anxiousness and frustration. I approached this whole process being relaxed and expecting it to take forever. I didn't even look at the site for an update until the 30th day. I read the forum and knew it was going to be a long wait and was fine with it. Having that attitude made the process seem a little faster for me. I never called because I heard the wait times were outrageous. I did email once just to verify they got all my paper work. (I mailed it) They got back to me in 4 days and confirmed it was all received.
Just be patient. It will make it. Take time to break in your holster in the house during your wait. Get used to carrying the weapon concealed in the house. Practice your draw. Try to get accustomed to having your weapon in the car using the Castle Doctrine. Read up on the rules. Do everything you can do to prepare yourself for when you do finally get your plastic. Your going to drive yourselves nuts checking for an update 2-3 times a day.
It will get there. Just don't drive yourself bonkers waiting on it. :patriot: :txflag:

Just a quick note about customer service of DPS.

I sent two requests a week apart for verification that materials were at least received. I had no intention of these requests making any impact, but it made me feel better to at least be able to act.

The response to the first request came a few days after my online update. Standard form letter saying wait 8 weeks, blah blah.

The response to my second request came this morning. Keep in mind my status update to mailed on 3/1...

"Thank you for using the Regulatory Services Division’s website. Our records indicate your application has not began the process"
.
.
.
"Right now it takes 8-10 weeks for our office to confirm receipt of your mailed in or emailed materials. It is normal for you not to see a status of your documents being received online for the 8-10 week timeframe. Once we enter your documents in our system and begin processing, you will see status change on the online status check."

So just an FYI, your emails fall on deaf ears, in my experience. They don't even LOOK. If the gentleman who sent me this response this morning had taken a couple of seconds he could have saved himself a few seconds of copying and pasting his canned response. I don't know why I expect government services to be any better than fast food service, but it really bothers me when people are so jaded they don't even do their jobs.

If you are really concerned, call and hope you get a caring representative.
