The word "shrimps" is insulting. They prefer to be called "little crustaceans."

Of all the CHL legal scholars on this forum, who knows the difference between "maybe" and "may be"?

Here is a definition and short test that explains the difference. Gotta love Google.

optics' when used in a political context.

"metrics" when used in a business context.

People who use these words within those contexts sound like weasels...

I love the term "no-brainer" when used in a business context. It usually describes the person using the phrase.

Good to know. When I was in industry it was the weasels who didn't want their performance measured.
I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.

Metrics, like most things, can be good and bad. When used properly, they can give a good picture of performance. However, in today's management-by-numbers culture, they are often used as an easy alternative to making difficult value judgements or to take judgement out of the hands of subordinates.

Metrics can also be made up. Most times when someone puts data into a colorful chart, people assume the information is correct.

How old does one have to be before considered to be "Elderly"?
