well low and behold, 87 days later and my update has finally changed from "waiting on required documents" to "Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending" :)
I was just about to call them and see what was up...

Must be backed up because of the holidays...

I received my CHL in the mail today - 85 days mailbox to mailbox (mailed in materials on 11/4/13). <Happy Dance!> :anamatedbanana

* Interesting to note - my on-line status first showed "mailed" on 1/22/14. Since it was 7:00 AM when I checked, I naturally assumed that it meant it was actually mailed the day before (on 1/21/14), since "mailed" is past tense (and I didn't think they had mailed it earlier than 7 AM that morning). When I received my CHL today - I noticed that the postmark on the envelope was "01/24/2014" meaning that they not only didn't mail it the day before, but 2 days AFTER it was posted as mailed (1/22/14).

Sooooo...the date when you see your status change to "mailed" may not actually be the date they mail it.

Also, for anyone who might be curious - they mailed it USPS First Class Mail (mailed on Friday 1/24 and I received it Tuesday 1/28...and I live in the Dallas area).

Mine was also mailed on 1/24/2014, although the website said "Mailed" on 1/23/2014. I received mine yesterday 1/27/2014.

11/02: CHL Class
11/03: CHL Application Submitted Online
11/09: Fingerprints
11/11: Checklist and documentation dropped in my mailbox
11/15: Submitted documents online (just in case - recently some of my mail has gone undelivered)
11/18: Received a confirmation e-mail that the documentation has been received electronically and forwarded to the appropriate personnel

01/25: Manufacturing Pending
01/29: Mailed

So it was mailed today! Which means it will *actually* get mailed in a couple days and I will likely see it sometime next week.

Here's an "update" for everyone. I actually was able to get a hold of a representative today on the phone! I should get some prize for that! Anyways, he informed me that they were currently processing applications from the beginning to mid November. Since I sent in all my paperwork on the 27th, he said to give it a couple more weeks. They are very popular right now so the 60 days for a new license is not valid.

Hello ya'll,

I just registered on the forum and have enjoyed reading so many informative posts. Well, I got everything completed last Wednesday, 1/29 and mailed away to DPS...We shall see how long it takes. I was in "Wally World" with my wife this afternoon and was wearing clothing that I would wear if I were carrying (this wait is gonna be a killer! LOL). Anyway, I was just watching people as it was packed with everyone getting ready for the Super Bowl. I gotta tell you, there was not a single person in the place who even noticed me. I have my cell phone on outside, so there would be a protrusion. Not a glance from anyone that I could tell. I think sometimes we think people are checking us out much more closely. The truth is, and actually kind of sad, people are REALLY oblivious.

Anyway, I will keep you posted on my wait, but thanks for having me. I enjoy learning from all of you! :tiphat:

It looks like waiting times are back to 60 days, and hopefully that number will continue to drop. Let's hope the DPS doesn't cut the temp hires any time soon.

Posted under the February 2014 applications but wanted to share here as well:

CHL Class: 09/15/2013
Financial issues kept me from applying until:
Application Filed: 01/28/2014
Fingerprinted: 02/06/2014
Documentation Mailed: 02/06/2014
Documentation Received: 02/07/2014

Website currently reflects that they haven't "received" the paperwork yet so I'm stuck in a holding pattern at the moment. Hoping it'll be faster than the max of 90 days.
