I think you're right, the responses might have been more concise... :thumbs2:

The reason for my question really started over Christmas and kind of overflowed into the playoffs and the Super Bowl. I carry everywhere I legally can. Most of my friends have their CHL but don't always carry (their intuition must be better than mine). For parties and such, they never carried to my house but I always carried to theirs. I just found it a bit odd that they didn't bother to carry.

Only time I've recently disarmed is taking my son to a Dr appointment and the building was posted. I commented to my wife that should anything happen there is nobody in this building with the ability to fight back against an armed attacker. Sad but true.

I carry everywhere I legally can and try my best to avoid those places I can't. If at someones house for a dinner party or any other reason, they have to verbally inform me (assuming their house is not posted) and at that time, I will excuse myself and leave.

3. I will once my CHL comes in. (However I know my employer will be ok with me carrying, so I guess this doesn't really apply. )
4. Yes.
So you carry illegally at 1 and 2?
No and no.

1. I have that homeowners permission to defend them if need be.

2. I don't hang out with liberals so I know I would have their permission as well.

But I guess we'll just leave it at that.... :fire ;-)

Mostly. If I'm not carrying there is a firearm close at hand.

I've been wrong before, so this wouldn't be the first time, but I do not think your friends' permission makes it legal for you to carry in their home. There is no provision for someone other than a LEO to give you permission to break the law. And you would also be carrying illegally once you exited your vehicle since you're not at your home or place of business. This has been hashed in other threads and mostly boils down to this:

You are breaking the law, but it is unlikely that anyone would report you.

24/7/365 - I carried at the hospital when my husband donated a kidney (not posted). I carried when I went to my Aunt's house in Magnolia with some VERY LIBERAL Austin-ite cousins. If they had know I was carrying, they probably would have left. I carry when I do the dishes, or when I take out the trash. My EDC has become so comfortable I even fall asleep on the couch with it holstered on my hip. I only disarm when I teach at the public school (stays in console of vehicle), or if I have to vote/posted office. My doctors aren't posted, otherwise I would find new ones. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Yes to all.

Pretty much the only time I do not carry is when I go to the airport to head overseas.
