$299 SKS at AimSurplus

Chinese surplus SKS now for sale at AIM Surplus. Would you consider this a good price in today's market? extra $20 and they give you a hand picked rifle (the best of 5 anyway). Thoughts?

I can give a thumbs up for Aim Surplus. I know many people who have purchased from them and been quite satisfied.

I wish I had bought a few of their Mosin Nagant's when they were being sold for $50.

It looks like the gunsmith special is now $219.

Twenty years ago when I got my SKS for a Benjamin, it was a great truck gun. It filled the same niche as a 30-30 lever gun and I didn't have to worry about loss or damage to the 30-30 my father gave me.

That's a pretty fair price in today's market. We have done lots of business and transfers with AIM and never a problem.

I think that's a pretty good price as well.

I'm really considering this myself. Knowing me, I'll wait too long until they're gone and then kick myself for not getting it.

They look like beatups to me. Too much trouble to restore.

Just really depends on what the quality are for these and it's hard to tell. I'd prefer to see these in person even at the low internet prices.

Is there a better source for Chinese SKSs these days? They seem to be a sight better than the Yugo M59s which are the only I can find with any consistency.

That's what I thought at first, too.

The cracked stock is $219. There is a drop down list with a broken stock that removes $20 from the price.

Well. I took the plunge on one, but I don't have a picture, yet. I'm still trying to get it cleaned up. The one I received is a pretty early gun with a blade bayonet. Mine has all matching serial numbers (60,XXX range, which means first-year production - 1956, If I'm looking at things correctly,) and is pretty well sopping with cosmoline. It's obviously used, but seems to be in pretty good shape. I don't think it's been refurbished.

The one that you received, did it have rust or no rust? Stock broken?

No rust, bluing mostly intact. The bluing on mine looks better than the one in the picture. The stock is a little dirty (about like the one in the picture,) and has soaked up a lot of cosmoline, but it isn't broken or cracked, and it's numbered to the rest of the gun.
Just to clarify: I'm talking about one of the ones from AIM Surplus, not Royal Tiger Imports.

Edit: looks like AIM is sold out.
