Here is a nice shooter for a reasonable price: http://ohioccwforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=76830" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Since it is out of state, you'd need to have him ship it to an FFL, but you should still be able to pick it up for about $350-$360 including shipping and FFL.

Budsgunshop.com has a Tisas GI model in 9mm for $399 and a Rock Island Tactical model for $439. Both are decent starters from what I've heard and come with free shipping. I have an STI Spartan 9 and it's one of my favorite shooters so I can totally vouch for it but it's a few more $$. Good luck with your search.

I don't know what your budget is but I've been extremely pleased with my Kimber Custom stainless target 1911 in 9mm. It is heavy enough that the recoil is minimal and of course with the 1911 trigger it is a pleasure to shoot. As for accuracy, the gun's capabilities far exceed my ability. Some of the 9mm 1911's can be a bit finicky about feeding different brands of ammo.

Re: WTB 1911 9MM
I picked up a compact RIA 1911 in 45 a few months ago and have been very pleased with it. Now I am also in the market for a 1911 in 9mm compact so I don't have to buy new holsters. If you want an entry level 1911, go with Armscor (makers of Citadel, Rock Island Armory, STi Spartan, and I think Charles Daly). Their prices are great and their customer service is top notch. You can find RIA/Citadel for about $450 or so.
