No!!!!!!! Just called DPS and got some bad news...
The Sherrifs department personnel took my fingerprints verified my photos, signature and all that jazz. My CHL instructor and I also verified the CHL checklist prior to me mailing all of the information, and also after checking the CHL checklist on this site.... It says to have the following:
c) passport photo holder (signed in black felt tip pen) - DONE!
2. Be sure photos are signed by fingerprinter and applicant - DONE!
-1 passport photo holder w/ 2 signed passport photos - DONE!
When I called to try and get my PIN # and make sure all my stuff was received, the guy(very nice) said that one of the photos had to be signed on the BACK of the photo. NOWHERE do I see that the BACK of my PHOTO had to be signed.
I just don't see that anywhere on the CHL checklists and my instructor and the Sherrifs dept. weren't aware either. I'm assuming maybe they changed something during the time I took class and sent packet...*shrugs*
The other bit of bad news is he said that one of my TR forms/affidavits had the same #??? Not sure what that means, but I do know that there were 3 affidavits and there were 3 different affidavit form #'s that we turned in...Not sure what to think of this...
Either way.....waiting for their letters this week now so I can call my instructor to see what all needs to be done.
Frustrated,

As far as the photos, I do know that the packet did say that they needed to be signed on the back by both you and the person taking your prints. The instructors where I took the class were also very clear on this and made sure that we signed them before getting printed and the guy doing the prints also knew to sign as well.
Sounds like you did not get enough info from your instructors at the class. They should have been on top of this as it can delay your processing time.

That really stinks lol. I am wondering if since the checklist says "sign photos"(and not back of photos), maybe they/I signed on them in wrong place or just on the form. Hopefully it is something I can get cleared up and back to DPS asap. I wonder if maybe they had an old checklist or something....When I do find out, I will post and advise.

Yeah I thought about that, but I certainly hope I would remember signing the front lol. That just wouldn't make since. I remember him saying if anything ever happened to me as a license holder, this was the picture that will be on the news lol.
Must have just signed the form and maybe the sherrifs dept/instructor and I thought that was done by signing the form.
*Sigh*

I got mine returned for the No Sig too, could not find it in my packet either. I signed them and sent them in, no problem. Did not have the fingerprint guy sign it, nor was I asked to. This was 18 months ago.wjmphoto wrote:As far as the photos, I do know that the packet did say that they needed to be signed on the back by both you and the person taking your prints. Got the DPS letter in the mail today. Easy fix, like you Renegade(My name was printed, not signed--damn I'm getting old to not remember doing that lol), so that is cool, but the other problem that I mentioned is this:
"A certificate number that has been duplicated with another student. Your instructor has been notified. Your application will be put on hold until we hear from your instructor."
I hope that part is an easy fix too...

Larsin,
The hardest part is the "waiting for Christmas Morning" feeling.
Suggest that if you already have your pistol, you should get a holster that you can wear it in, and practice wearing it around the house.
Go to the range.
Practice your dry fire techniques.
All else fails, whip out the BreakFree and start cleaning that gun! That always puts me in my Happy Place.

worth it
It's definitely worth it though, I've been carrying for over a month now and never felt safer. My girlfriend wondered why I needed it until we went to dinner and a movie in Dallas where she needed to use an atm in the downtown area where you see a lot of so so characters. I was right behind her when she was getting the cash, she turned around and told me not leave home without it now. Made her and me feel a lot safer. Like everyone is saying go the range and start practice carrying at home to get use to it. Good luck!!
