Is this sign even valid, Its been posted outside my job for a while and I'd never really payed attention it because I was part of the armed security team. its posted at both entrances to the parking lot

Just curious, but didn't the law just change regarding posting parking lots and employees? I also notice further down it talks about a tobacco free Campus - is this an educational facility?

yes is did, and if I am not mistaken the way the new law reads it exempts employees from the provision of 30.06 for only the employees

I was wondering the same thing. I know that some companies refer to their facilities as a campus, but that caught my attention.

For the 30.06 sign, looking at the wording and letter size in the photo it appears to be valid. Since the parking lot law passed a couple of years ago an employer normally cannot prohibit an employee from having a legally possessed firearm in their vehicle. HOWEVER, looking at the sign below saying 'campus' if it is a school then they CAN prohibit their employees from having one in their car. If it is not a school or a oil/gas refinery and something like a hospital campus or other business that is not exempted from the parking lot law by statute, then, as an employee, you can posses one in the vehicle, but not out on the grounds or in the buildings.

that is what i was getting at as far as its validity. To my knowledge these are only posted on the perimeter of the parking lot and not the actual building its self. I've been here 3 yrs and basically operated under the premise that CHL holder are not allowed to carry inside this campus because in the event of an active shooter we dont want guess and employees to be mistaken for the shooter when out team comes to respond.

So by campus, is it a school campus? If so, and it is a public school, then there is a different rub. A 30.06 sign is not valid on a public school parking lot as the public school is a government entity. They CAN as a school however, prohibit an employee from having a gun in the car and can fire you if you do. While not illegal, it is a fireable offense and there is no protection by the parking lot law.

On the other hand, if it's a private school, 30.06 signs at the property entrances are valid everywhere on the grounds for pedestrians, as well as inside the buildings. Whether it's valid for the driver and passengers inside an automobile is a gray area until there's case law.

We could use a little more information. If this "campus" is a public school campus then I'm not sure even a proper 30.06 sign can legally prevent a CHL holder from carrying on the campus. We already are prohibited from carrying in the buildings, but can still go just about everywhere else outside. So, if it is a public school campus, you may have some CHL holders on campus with their CCW.
