Who is this guy running for LT. Gov?

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

Saw him speak at a TSRA annual meeting a couple of years ago, and chatted w. him outside the hotel afterwards. Very down to earth, grounded, sincere about gun rights. Been sporting a 'Patterson 2014' bumper sticker for at least the past year.

Jerry Patterson gets my vote every day of the week and twice on Sunday! :thumbs2: :thumbs2:

Well I just got here, or rather I should say, back here, after 45 years off in the land of Moonbeams. That's why I asked here... I figured folks here would know this guy and whether he was a clown or a cowboy, without a program.
I actually thought you were making a funny, pretending to not know who Jerry Patterson is.

In my opinion, yes.

I don't think Dan is a bad choice, but Jerry is a better choice.

To me, Jerry seems to me to be the more engaged, nuts-and-bolts, administrator... focused on addressing the administrative needs of the State. Dan seems to be slightly more focused on "media" issues...

Just my $0.02

ETA: Watch the video posted by PSIJAC.. Jerry gives a great "Why me" answer starting at 19:30...
Also worth watching his comments on 2A starting at 15:10
If 2A is your "single issue", I don't see how any other candidate can beat Jerry's bona fides or his prioritization of 2A issues and he's not just spot-on on 2A.

Dan would make a good press secretary. That's his strength.

:iagree: I like Dan Patrick very much, but Jerry is the right man for LT governor. He will be our team for better legislation.

He'll get my vote, but I'm just afraid he's going to have a hard time beating Dewhurst.

Jerry Patterson is recognized as the "father of CHL in Texas" and rightfully so. He worked tirelessly to pass SB60 in 1995, as did Rep. Bill Carter and his staff. Jerry didn't merely put his name on the bill and file it, he worked daily to garner support and guide the bill through the legislative process. The usual procedure when working with a Senator or Representative is to spend most of one's time talking to staff members. Not so with Jerry; every time I called I talked to him directly and his enthusiasm for concealed-carry was contagious. He was never to busy to talk about SB60, he was always receptive to suggestions/changes, and he cared solely about passing the bill rather than getting public recognition. (He got that too, but it was neither his doing nor his motivation.) He has spoken publicly in support of gun owners and expanded Second Amendment rights since 1995 and I believe as Texas Land Commissioner he was the first elected official to change his agency's personal policy to allow CHL's to carry guns in their offices.

Jerry truly is the "father of CHL in Texas" and he's a very protective Dad!

I like the way Patterson says that sometimes you just have to roll the other side. He said you can count on the Dems doing it, and so should we when we're in power. I'm sick and tired of playing nicey nicey and having issues die in session because of a lack of spine. It's time for a hard-nosed Lt. Gov. who will get the Senate to do what he wants. Patterson not only knows how to do that but is on record saying we should.

Now if we can just replace Strauss in the House......

I think a priority should be replacing Straus as speaker. How best do we do that?

Vote against representatives who supported Straus as speaker in 2013, knowing full well what Straus did in 2011 and 2009.

One of the many things I like about Patterson is I think he has integrity and I think he wouldn't have supported Straus just to kiss up to the socialists.
