A common denominator in mass shootings

Pyschotropic drugs. Instead of advocating for gun control, activitsts should be advoating for suing the pharmaceutical companies that sell the drugs and the psychiatrists who prescribe them.

You may be jumping to a conclusion that is not true. People with mental illness are sometimes prescribed drugs to combat their illness. Do these drugs increase the likelihood of becoming a mass shooter or does the mental illness itself make the person more likely to cause a mass shooting?

Often the cure is worse than the disease.

Or is it that the person has stopped taking their medication? Stopping some medications suddenly can cause serious issues.

It's a complicated issue.

I do find it interesting how quickly the incident ended because of someone with a gun being on the seen. Just think if more people had guns and could have dealt with the little psycho sooner. That beautiful young girl may have been spared the pain and agony she is now have to deal with and will have in the future.

Evil is evil, it doesn't matter if it involves psycho dysfunction or meds. Even the psychos think clear enough to pick soft targets. Not all incidents can be prevented but they can be dealt with more efficiently and effectively by sane armed good people.

This is exactly the same argument, with the same flaws, that various anti-gun groups and city governments peddle when they want to sue the firearms manufacturers and gun dealers. Just like guns, there are a lot more people taking SSRI drugs and NOT committing suicide, or murder, nor especially mass murder, than do those things. Whatever the failings of pharmaceutical companies and psychiatrists, blanket lawsuits and demonization will accomplish pretty much the same thing as gun control and lawsuits against the firearms industry -- ultimately punishing the vast majority of innocents and not doing a bloody thing about the actual problem.

I'm afraid you are mistaken. The side effects of psychotropic drug use and withdrawal from their use are well documented. There is no corollary for gun use. You're comparing apples and oranges.

Read the articles linked in this list of mass shootings. Then look through these articles that describe the well known problems with psychotropic drugs. The fact is they are often prescribed for people who are not suffering from any diagnosed mental illness, and they have an alarming rate of negative behavioral impacts on normal people. There is a documented link between psychotropic drugs and abnormal behavior in individuals who do not otherwise exhibit such behavior.

In my opinion, psychotropic drugs are gateway drugs that lead to evil. The evidence suggests my belief is valid.

Apparently devil worship is one of the common factors. Columbine, Sandy Hook and Tucson shooters apparently worshiped the devil.

I really have to disagree with this statement. I have seen many psychotic individuals return to full functioning human beings when they took their drugs. What bothers me about the latest shooting in Colorado is that the young man was an Eagle Scout. I have never seen a "bad" kid that was an Eagle Scout. Something major had to cause a psychotic break.

On the flip side of this, I have seen several good kids who were put on these drugs and they turned into hellions.

Could have been "abused" by a scout leader. That would mess up any kid.

Why are "good" kids put on psychotropic drugs? Who treats psychosis in normal kids? Of course "good" kids can go bad if they abuse drugs such as amphetamines and heroin but when we talk about psychotropic drugs I am talking about psychotic individuals that return as functional people with the use of drugs. There is a lot of difference between neurosis and true psychosis.
