Texas CHL 16 days

#1

Post by Masterchiefbt »

I was in the first "shortened" class in Tyler I believer and had all the prequisites completed prior to the class (26 years US Navy taught me that) so I put all the documents in the mail on Saturday, 7 September and received my CHL on 23 September in the mail. I thought 16 days was really very quick. So for those waiting for theirs, our great State of Texas seems to have a system down that is efficient....at least I think so ! :txflag:

This is the first I've heard of the shortened classes. That's great. Does this apply to renewals as well?

Renewal classes are no longer required (as of 9/1/13), so all you have to do is apply online at the DPS website.

I don't know how they got yours out so quickly. It took 10 days for me to receive mine in the mail after it showed on the website that it was printed. I had to change my ship to address as I moved during the waiting process which was nerving.

They gladly changed the address on my CHL, and mailed it out.

Those that got their applications and documents sent in the first part of September are the lucky ones. It is now taking closer 61 days than 16. Actually, mine was 65 days from mail in to "mailed" status. Sent it all in 9 Oct, via USPS.
