we don't pay for TV we don't want. We have a Roku, we pay for Netflix and Acorn and that's it, we stream everything, we got back over $1000 a year when we dropped directTV.

I'm thinking of doing similarly. Curious about why Acorn. Isn't that British tv shows?

it's BBC, ITV etc, we really enjoy those. They do mystery really well, and when you've seen pretty much everything here, well, it's fun to watch those during the off season. Nothing like Agatha Christie or Foyles War and a hot chocolate on a cold night

I too have "cut the cable", but I use the power of torrents to get my programming. ;) I've got a lil server with 6TB of space filled with the free programming I've come to love.

I have also "cut the cable". Unfortunately, the only internet service I can get with enough bandwidth for HD video is...TWC. Sometimes you can't win.

I'm in Austin There is another provider Grande communications their office
is not posted I dumped Time Warner and I don't regret it.

When I turned in my TW set top box I stood at the door knocking.... they thought it had accidentally been locked. A guy ran up to the door and pushed it open. I handed him the box and asked him to bring me a receipt, as I had cancelled my service. He said come on in and I said I couldn't due to the sign and he said "um.. ok, I'll get your receipt."

I figured I would never be back there so what the heck.

Drop cable TV. It is obsolete anyways. Go with FREE TV movies and original series; Crackle.com . Get an internet connection with another vendor and get your movies FREE online (with some advertising).

With no advertising, go with HULU or Netflix for $10 or so per month.
