....a "gunfight" which they think they can win if they just get rid of everybody else's guns. That's why I'd rather see the fight sooner rather than later, while we still have ours. If Ted Cruz and others can stand unbroken NOW, progressives will have to realize that their physical survival depends on their backing off instead of continuing to press forward.

I know there is a specifically warm and sulfurous place in hades for Harry Reid.

Correction. Yes, they can lose both houses...but they definitely should not! They would not deserve to lose both houses, but polls do indicate that does have a chance of happening.
He's right. If the Republicans fold again on responsible fiscal policy, and help the socialist drive this once great country further in the toilet, their party deserves to become a footnote in history next to the Whigs.

His refusal to even try.

We're compromising this country, straight into the grave.

Cornyn and others, including McCain, aren't Republicans. If they can't do what's right, even if they 'think' they can't win, what use are they?

If Cornyn and McCain were at the Alamo, THEY would have surrendered.

People with attitudes such as those during the Revolutionary War, would NEVER have been trusted, and would have been considered British Loyalists.

I was listening to the Wells report on the way home today and a caller said the same thing, to recall Cornyn. JD Wells said you can't recall at Fed level. He also said the Tx primaries are in march and there is nobody to run against him or could even do so in the short time, long story short he ain't goin nowhere.

Then let's get someone grass roots to replace him.

I am a bit lost on what it is Cornyn did, I know he took a different approach then Cruz, but did he vote to fund or defund Obamacare? If we can find a Cruz to replace Cornyn I am al in with replacing him. I wish we could get them all to be like Cruz. The ones like Mcpain need to retire. Like TAM says it is time to stand up an fight.

He took the "easy" political way out of voting against obamacare. Not backing Cruz, because the GOP considers him a radical, by voting FOR cloture, but voting against the final bill so he could say he did.

It wasn't that long ago Texas chose Cruz over Dewhurst. It may well be that the same political forces that chose Cruz are still viable enough to defeat Cornyn. I liked the comment that Cruz was risking the country - as if we could not identify the risk to the country of keeping Obamacare. There have been a host of government shutdowns over the past decades, starting with Jimmy Carter. Essential federal government services continued each and every time. When Cornyn comes to a microphone and says he voted against Obamacare, it will have a very hollow ring. Texas may very well end up with 2 senators with no seniority or power - thanks to Cornyn. It will not be the fault of the voters of Texas. Cornyn has put us in a very tough spot.

Chas,

I tell my son this all the time " Actions have Consequences". Those in power seem to feel that they can do anything they want with impunity. We as voters need to send a strong message to these folks, either vote the principles of a conservative or we will find someone who will. There was no reason for Cornyn or any other Republican to vote for cloture. Actions speak louder than words and we know what the actions of the 25 Republicans in the Senate revealed about themselves.

John Cornyn has no one to blame but himself if he gets beat. He should have been standing right next to Cruz fighting the good fight. Our ranks have been infiltrated by individuals who claim one thing yet do the opposite. It is time to send the pretenders home.

I am truly angry with Cornyn over his cowardly betrayal on this issue. He has shown himself to be a man without principle or integrity while still piously posturing as one with those qualities.

Cornyn effectively used our vote to fund obamacare.

He funded it - he owns it.

I'm done with Texas' version of John McCain.

When we replace him, we'll lose advantages of seniority, but seniority in one who betrays our trust is no advantage at all.

I'm looking to cut our losses with Cornyn and replace him with another Cruz.

I cannot understand why Senator Cornyn couldn't simply have voted "present" if he truly is against Obamacare, but merely disagreed with Senator Cruz' methodology. That could have been accompanied by a statement that explained his position on the matter. I'm usually not the biggest fan of "present" votes, but they occasionally have their place. It was the vote FOR cloture, that advanced the bill to a point where it almost assuredly will pass, that puzzled me.
