September Apps

#1

Post by joder »

Sent mine in on the 4th and I find myself checking the online status far too often. Who else has sent their's in? Any updates?

I know it can take weeks to see any status changes online. I'd imagine it will take even longer with the shorter classes (assuming more applicants).

Ahhhh, I remember when I submitted my app...the watching, the waiting, the anticipation...Checking online status 3-5 times a day. Practicing my concealment by carrying around the house, posing in front of mirrors...Feels like it was just yesterday. Wait - that was August!
Hang in there, I'm sure it will be there before you know it. What I've learned from this forum and my 1 personal experience is that basically the status sits still for a week so so, then jumps several stages seamingly overnight. Then, the pending manufacture and mailing status - those are the couple days that really drag on because you know it's on it's way.

Thanks for the input, I will probably still check it 3-5 times a day though :)

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since I had mailed the paperwork off to Austin. I figured I would see something online now about how they had received the materials or something? Then again who knows how many other folks were a part of the mad rush when the class times were shortened.

My wife and I mailed our packages to the DPS on September 3rd and our status also shows no upsates. Maybe next week there will be some progress noted.

My wife and I sent our applications in September 6th via certified mail. We finally received the confirmation that the packets were signed for on September 13th. So I know that DPS has them in their position, now we wait.

On a side note, do y'all think that September applications will really be delayed by that much? The shorter classes just went into effect and considering the majority of people have to take a class on the weekend that means there has only been two opportunities presented. Additionally, for most people considering obtaining a CHL I do not think the previous class length was a huge deterrence. Especially when the classes were only shortened by a few hours. Maybe I am being naive, but I just can not see there being a huge rush of people going "OMG, the CHL class is shortened to 4 hours now, I can totally handle sitting there for that long!" However, maybe I am wrong. What are the opinions out there?

I think most were concerned with potential delays caused by rush of people submitting renewals after September 1st.

Further update. I checked the CHL site this morning and both mine and my wife's background checks show complete and the licenses are in manufacturing. So from September 3rd when I mailed the paperwork to today is only 16 days, not too shabby.

And just like that it went from awaiting mailed materials to manufacturing pending overnight... Woohooo!

:cheers2: :cheers2: :cheers2: :cheers2:

Sent it in on the 4th so around 15 days... not bad at all.

Was everyone's a renewal that has already been mailed out?

No, ours were initial applications. I am very impressed with the DPS turnaround time.
