Well, there's also the issue behind it. XDs issue is it'll go full auto where the M&P drop safety spring isn't working. It's easy to diagnose IF you have the problem with the M&P & with the XDs, you do not know if you're truly effected. That & what the others said about unprepared . . . I would guess.carlson1 wrote:I guess I worded my question wrong.
Why is there a larger deal made over the recall for Springfield than there is the recall on the Shield?

That's the best attitude! Now, that we have an official word from Springfield regarding the turnaround, we all can cool off and just wait...krieghoff wrote:I have a 9 and a .45 and they both went out today. 30 days give or take ain't bad. ATDM: Seems that only a few weeks ago you had 80 posts... now up by a 100. Wow! In my Army days we had a term called "spring butt" but I don't know what it is called in forum parlance, but whatever it is you are it. Keep it up and even TAM's record will be broken. Me... I'm a reader, not a poster. Like you, hope my XDs .45 gets back in a month or so.ATDM wrote:That's the best attitude! Yeah... I got a little prolific with the recall... I post a little between patients (I am a physician)...Shoot_First wrote:

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
On Sunday I realized that I inverted the last two digits of the serial number, when I created the tag. I have a mild dyslexia with numbers and missed it!
Yesterday I called the SA and within 6 minutes they fixed it and said it would not affect the upgrade timeframe. Let's hope they are right.
I really don't like it, when things like that happen... But I learned to look for the silver lining in these situations.
And the silver lining is: the answered the phone after 6 minutes. It means that they are getting things back under control, because they either hired more staff, or worked over the weekend, or are working long hours, or all three. Regardless, they are standing by their word and product after the initial panic.

Who panicked, and why?ATDM wrote:Regardless, they are standing by their word and product after the initial panic.
Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
The XDtalk forum exploded with people just out of their minds and bent out of shape about the recall itself, then the SA handling of the recall, the SA stating they are overwhelmed, then the rumors and gossip, etc.G26ster wrote:Who panicked, and why?ATDM wrote:Regardless, they are standing by their word and product after the initial panic.
Now, that the SA has posted a FAQ page with a first hand info on the turnaround time, things have calmed down significantly. But for awhile, it was an absolute circus over there.

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
The same thing happens on all manufacturer specific forums whenever there is a recall. There's really no reason for it and it blows over rather quickly. Heck, forums explode whenever there's multiple reports of an issue, and the manufacturer has not issued a recall and/or has no plans to. I've seen it on the Glock forum, the Sig forum, the Diamondback forum, the and Ruger forum, to name a few in the last few years. I still see no reason for a panic.ATDM wrote:The XDtalk forum exploded with people just out of their minds and bent out of shape about the recall itself, then the SA handling of the recall, the SA stating they are overwhelmed, then the rumors and gossip, etc.G26ster wrote:Who panicked, and why?ATDM wrote:Regardless, they are standing by their word and product after the initial panic.

I really think that it's absolutely normal. This is one of the primary functions of forum. It's a perfect venting outlet. People go through their venting process and walk away relieved, whether they are right or wrong. They also commiserate with others, and that helps them feel better, too. I didn't panic about the recall. I was actually rather happy about it from the point of fixing the existing issues and the SA being an upstanding company.G26ster wrote:

The only disappointing issue was the fact that I have only shot a couple hundred rounds through it in the couple of weeks I had it since buying, and I just love that little gun! I want to buy another one. It looks like a lot of people are going to sell theirs, so I am hoping to get a good price.

Has anyone received their XDs back yet?

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
There must be a lot of these going out the Fuqua Street Fed Ex shipping center (southeast Houston area). I took mine in today. The lady at the counter looked at the shipping label and knew exactly what was in the box. I was surprised that there were no hassles. In the past, when I shipped a pistol out of that location, they would make me open the box and unwrap the pistol so they could inspect it. Now it is time to wait. I do look forward to getting it back as it is a very nice carry pistol, and easy to shoot with the 7 round extended magazine.

No. Yesterday was the first day for Springfield Armory to do the work. They indicated from the beginning they wouldn't start until today.longhorn_92 wrote:Has anyone received their XDs back yet?

Springfield already received over 50,000 guns as of one week ago (probably, a lot more by now). So, I am sure it was a big deal for FedEx, and they briefed their employees...LTUME1978 wrote:There must be a lot of these going out the Fuqua Street Fed Ex shipping center (southeast Houston area). Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
A post on another forum stated that the repair consists of replacing the grip safety and disconnecter.
That's unconfirmed, but the disconnecter makes logical sense. The fact that the grip safety is being replaced suggests that the issues are caused by some improper interaction between the two parts.
