Question regarding September 1

#1

Post by GaryTx »

Every question I send the DPS/CHL Instructor email address (even those that need no more than a simple yes or no) gets answered with the canned "Information will be posted soon." It's like an auto reply on anything to do with September 1.

I can understand and appreciate that they don't have all the issues sorted out yet. That aside, are you guys and gals that are instructors going to start teaching the shortened class September 1? It seems to me that is what the law mandates whether DPS has their act together or not. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I already have a class scheduled for Sept 1.

If DPS doesn't give up some information, and soon, this will be a very interesting class.

I have one scheduled for September 6th... I have 12 signed up and plan on 4hrs + range time. I have sent instructions to them to wait until after 9/1 to apply... I have adjusted my power point just a little.. I will finish it when the guidelines, if any, are released.

I would like to see DPS at least acknowledge the changes.

I also have one scheduled for the 1st. I'm just hoping they put something out soon. Need a couple of days to possibly change course material around and understand the new legislation.

Doesn't seem like there have been many law changes other than the class length and renewal stuff though.

The written test would have to be changed. The new laws make several questions on the "old" test moot or just flat out incorrect. :rules:

This is what I keep thinking and wondering why DPS seems to be dragging their feet on getting the information out.

I'm thinking about changing the answer sheet 9/1, until we get new tests.

It does not make sense to tell students "For purposes of the test....".

Course, DPS may fool us, post new tests and CHL-16's on 8/31 or 9/1. :( That would be interesting.

Shoot, we probably could change the answer sheet NOW. :)

I have been teaching "For purposes of the test....". But I am not about to change test questions or answers. Don't know how DPS would feel about that, and not going to take a chance on finding out.

Been doing it the same way.
This is for the test today.
This is what it will be after Sept 1.
When I do review I do it on the test & dont confuse anyone.
