I just checked the status of my CHL app online and see these two items (below) on the list with red X's does anyone happen to know what this means? I know I submitted my classroom completion form along with all other docs. Thanks

Took my CHL class for the 3rd time yesterday. Will drop off paperwork tomorrow at lunch. Live in Round Rock and work in West Lake so well just as easy to drop off and cut a day or 2 off the process. Years back it took me exactly 60 days to get it. And I was lucky I got the 4 year and not 2 year license. Still have not fully understood why they did the staggering out like that. My one renewal took around 38 days if I remember correctly. I let it lapse for too long and had to take the full course again. Things have indeed changed and are changing more. I got a vet discount from DPS and got a course for 65 bucks so tis lots cheaper then first go around and renewal. I am not going to like the waiting any better then the first time I am sure, but I also do not think I am going to stress as much about it. Nothing in my history has much changed from when I was first issued it and the renewal so I am sure it will get accepted, but still the waiting. I think I will take the RONCO approach on this and "set it and forget it." Not check 15 times a day looking for an update. Or maybe I will. Till then :totap:

Well the wife's CHL was mailed yesterday and my background check is still under review. This is driving me crazy and it is only going to get worse when she has hers in hand. :grumble

I was a weapons loader on nuclear capable weapons systems in the Air Force and have traveled all over the world through the military. I guess that this could be a little more extensive check than most. :waiting:

I understand how you feel. My husband sent his paperwork on 7/1/13 and got his license today. I sent mine in May and still under review. Matter of fact FBI sent me a copy of my background and nothing is on it. What gives? I've bought three guns without issues and work for the Feds but been under background review since beginning June. I often wonder if they lost my stuff in the process and I'm sitting in the bottom of the stack. Hate to call them and ask.

As I posted in the July Apps thread my bg check just completed today-- it was started (or shown to be started) on Tuesday the 16th-- looks like it only took 2-3 days. My docs were received July 3rd. It's in manufacturing pending state now.

Yours is going faster than mine (I guess). When I eventually saw mine update, it skipped straight to MANUFACTURING PENDING. Hopefully your app is one of those 1 day BG reviews.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and after reading the many posts regarding waiting times I decided to share my wait. It is agony and I have stopped checking 5 times a day, now just once in the morning and once at night. I thought this length of time was normal until I discovered the forum. I'm not sure what affects longer background checks. I've been out of the military for 20 years or so, in the past while young and dumb I have been arrested for speeding tickets in different states while I was in the military but I paid all the fines years ago. I passed the background check for my xds and my rifle.

Snail Mailed Documents for New CHL: 3/4
Status received w/ fingerprints and background under review: 5/22
background still under review..
138th day still waiting.....

My wife completed her online CHL application at the end of May. But I just uploaded and emailed all of my wife's stuff (chl-100, etc.) through the website (https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/contact/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) on July 16th. Got a generic email stating that they got an email from us. As of today (July 28th) nothing has been updated online. I had read that if you submitted your paperwork online that you would see an update within days. Anyone else that uploaded their paperwork having to wait this long? I'm beginning to wonder if we need to send in her papers via snail mail.

Recently moved to Texas from Virginia, have had VA Concealed Handgun Permit since summer 2007 and been carrying ever since. New to Texas but not new to concealed carrying.

My VA CHP is valid in TX until it's expiration (summer 2017) under a reciprocity agreement, but I figured I'd rather get a local license to avoid any misunderstandings.

Here is my timeline:
- 07/20/13 - Completed online application
- 07/24/13 - Fingerprints
- 07/26/13 - CHL class
- 07/26/13 - Mailed out documents - Wait begins
- 07/29/13 - Mail package received per USPS tracking system
- 08/06/13 - Application received per DPS system, Background check under review

We'll see how long this takes - it looks like processing times vary greatly. My background is chrystal clear - not even a parking ticket - and I have a current VA CHP so you'd think it should be reasonably quick. But then I'm a Naturalized Citizen and was born and raised in the former Soviet Union, so it may delay things a bit...with me being an ex-commie and all...
