You will get it done. As a former smoker, the absolute best way to quit is the most straight forward. Cold Turkey. Remember that even if something is impossible by man alone, all things are possible when done with God.

From what people who've successfully quit have told me, :iagree:

Good luck, you can do it.

After smoking for 33 years and quitting about 75 times, I finally did it on try number 76. I and a friend went to a hypnotist and then I went on nicorrette gum. He just quit but had only smoked for maybe eight years. He was much younger than I. I don't know if the hypnotist worked or not. I never smoked again after seeing her but I did chomp on that nicorrette gum for almost three years. It has now been almost seven years since I last smoked.

A friend who had smoked and switChed to snuff to quit smoking, told me he found the snuff twice as hard to quit as the smoking.

Good luck to you. One way you will eventually quit is if you get mouth cancer and they remove your lower jaw. I saw a person who had that done and it was not a pretty sight. ;-)

The *fog* has set in, nothing feels right, feel dizzy. 72hrs is all I need to break the physical addiction and get all the nicotine out of my system. God help me. I threw my last dip out at 7pm last night.

I was a 3 pack a day smoker. I recommend you talk to your doctor about Chantix to help you quit. It does work. Also, stay away from your guns during this time as most of us are not too rational during the detox phase. And it is detox of perhaps the most addicting drug on the market, nicotine. It can be done. I haven't used tobacco in 30+ years. Once you quit though NEVER start again. Good luck. Do it before you get oral cancer.

I would recommend you NOT talk to your doctor about Chantix. :tiphat:

ETA - Just to be clear, I decided I'd rather die slowly from smoking than quickly from Chantix. I still smoke.

That crap is expensive, not taking 1 drug to get off another. I got some fake snuff to replace the feel of a real dip. Cravings are getting tough but Im going to make it. Ive been reading and the first 3 days is the worst, just wish this fog would go away.

You got this! Hang in there! Know there's lots of folks praying/pulling for you. Focus not on how bad you feel right now, but the good that's coming....better health, more money to spend on guns and ammo. This physical withdrawal WILL pass! YOU GOT THIS!!! :thewave

Don't understand why people downplay Chantix. It has helped many people quit. Addiction is a disease. If you have the willpower to do it on your own great. If you can't like the guy that tried 75 times and then used nicorette for 3 years before really quitting get professional help from your doctor. If you had any other disease I would hope you would be smart enough to seek professional help. Been there and done that so I understand how hard it is to quit. But do quit and that does not mean substituting one type of nicotine for another. No shame in getting help.

I'm proud of you! The first 24 was the hardest for me, after that the days just started piling up. I did buy the beef jerky in a can from the Walmart gas station in the beginning. It had the same consistency as Copenhagen for me and after you were done with it, you got a nice little beef jerky treat!

Keep it up and be proud of yourself!!! :cheers2:

Thanks. A buddy came over yesterday and while we were outside he got a dip. He didn't know I quit but funny thing is I didn't want it at all. I hope its downhill from here.

very cool! that was quick!

you've told yourself, and your brain is learning that the snuff is harmful to you...I've had to learn over the last couple of years that diary is almost deadly to me, it's reached the point that I can smell a pizza and not want it anymore. You're already reaching that point :hurry:
