Concealed carry while deep sea fishing!!
I tried a search and found nothing. I have never been deep sea fishing and am not completely sure what the definition means as far as how far out we go. My son lives in Houston and he has invited me to go deep sea fishing this weekend with he and some friends. He has never been either. The boat is chartered out of Galveston, I believe. Can I carry concealed?
Am I about to be wishing I had stayed on land? LOL!! I looked for a shark suite in case we sink. No luck!

We never went on a charter boat but went plenty of times on the two party boats in Galveston , I carried every time we went . I never really questioned it much so not offering legal advice . I carry a pocket gun so concealment is no problem . We went last year , this is my daughter fishing .
This is my daughter coming back in the evening ,LOL .

Well, is the boat posted?

If the boat stays with in 9 nautical miles, and the boat is not posted than your good to go. But is the boat goes past 9 nautical miles than your in Federal waters. after you get out 12 nautical miles than it is international waters.

Re: Concealed carry while deep sea fishing!!
I have no idea how far out he is going. The boat is chartered, I believe. I am one of six or so. We are all connected in one way or the other. I just know they are calling it deep sea fishing. I am going to carry since there is no way of anyone knowing I have it. Maybe I can blast me a pirate trying to sea jack us.
Now... For the shark part of my question. Since I will be with at least a few attorneys, I feel I am at higher risk of being eaten if we sink. I have considered pretending I am a democrat since sharks will eat attorneys before resorting to democrats. I bet if I wear a pro-Obama shirt, I will be towed in off the water by the sharks. Even sharks don't like the stench of a socialist.

Sooo... you're taking the sharks out in the boat with you? Sounds like you are trying to set up a feeding frenzy.

Lol.... Yeah.... And at the end of the day, it was a lot of fun but very tiring. Never having done this before, I was not sure what to expect. It was a charter deal. There were six of us total. Not much shade and a very bumpy ride. It was a blast fighting the big redfish we caught. We didn't make it out deep because the guide said the fish were not hitting out there and he would simply being blowing our money on the extra fuel. He gave us a huge break in price, like fifty percent since we stayed within 20 miles of shore. He could have simply played with us and taken us out further for the extra fees he would have charged but chose to allow it to be our decision. After hearing other captains reporting zero fish from further out, we decided to go the cheap option.... And it was fun!sjfcontrol wrote:03Lightningrocks wrote:I have no idea how far out he is going. I didn't carry because I was afraid we might stray out to international waters... I wasn't sure so I just played it safe. It was so hot and sweaty I am glad I didn't have to lug my Glock around on my side anyway.
I can't wait to go again. I'm still sitting in Houston while my son is frying up some fresh redfish. It is going to be a long drive to Dallas tonight but I have work I have to do in the morning.

No concealed carry on federal property! Includes corps of engineer's lakes, post offices, VA hospitals, and of course military bases, so why would it not include federal waters?Jumping Frog wrote:So what? Re: Concealed carry while deep sea fishing!!
Talking about land and water instead of buildings, ACOE land is only a very small subset of federal land. People are totally allowed to carry firearms in national forests and national parks. I would absolutely believe I can carry on the water unless someone can show me a statute or regulation forbidding it.riiano wrote:No concealed carry on federal property! Firearm in U.S. territorial or International waters is okay. It's entering the territorial waters of another sovereign nation with that firearm that can cause you problems. This site has gun info for sail/power pleasure cruisers:

I would suggest carrying one of them plastic guns that float; you know, a Glock or something like that.

in the unlikely event the boat sinks, you get eaten and the sharks will ignore the lawyers....simply a matter of professional courtesy.03Lightningrocks wrote: Now... Re: Concealed carry while deep sea fishing!!
Hey ole friend! Haven't seen you post in awhile. I just finished unpacking from my trip. Watched a guy steal from a convenience store about 80 miles south of Dallas and said nothing until after he left because there was a family in there with gramps, three grand daughters and a grand son.... None of whom were older than thirteen. I waited until the guy walked outside to say anything. I figured if he store manager wanted to play cop he would be better doing it outside away from those kids. Sure enough, he started heading out the door after a guy for stealing two drinks and a order of cheese fries. I just laughed. Guess he was gonna tackle him and make him pay or something. Some things just aren't worth fighting over to me. He came back in and asked what the guy looked like.... LOL. I said, it was the guy you handed the cheese fries to, you don't know what he looked like. He turned to the girl checker and she held her hands up in the air as she said, "I was confused, I didn't know what to do". You just have to love life's special moments on the road.Oldgringo wrote:I would suggest carrying one of them plastic guns that float; you know, a Glock or something like that.
To the discussion of carrying on the Gulf of Mexico. I had no idea what the law was and didn't want to risk it. I would feel like a dip stick asking the captain if I can bring along my weapon for the fishing trip. I like concealed because it means I don't tell a person I have it.... Or ask a persons permission to have it in thier presence. My concern had to do with getting stopped by coast guard and found with the gun in an illegal situation.
I did jokingly asked the captain if any fishing trips had ever been ruined by pirates. He laughed and said, not since they got Black Beard. Then a quick witted companion on the trip quipped that we won't be getting that close to Somalia.

I would simply say "I am the rotund feller", but then nobody would know which rotund feller...LOL. I'm the one in the camo ball cap and grey t shirt. My son is in the orange shirt with his girlfriend. She was not pleased when she was told the women's restroom was a bucket they could sit in the back of the boat while the guys all stand in the front facing the opposite direction. She was a trooper though and had a blast. Her dad is the feller about my age and the two younger guys are long time family friends of hers.
The feller in the cowboy hat was Captain Mike and the young kid in the green shirt was his deck hand.
