My initial reaction is that this session was largely a wasted opportunity. Very few changes for our favor, no revolutionary changes. Two more long years. . . I hope our advocates consider a dramatic change in strategy next time. Unseating the speaker has to be a risk somebody is willing to take. I'd really be interested in Charles' candid post-game report.

It probably won't mean a dang thing, but I sent another fax that expressed my disappointment if [Perry] didn't take advantage of 83(1) to add gun legislation, and to voice my support for HB49 to be added to the call.

When I read those articles saying he won't consider anything else for the call, it makes me think of a song I heard on KSBJ a while back titled 'Worn" by Tenth Avenue North. On the brighter side, I'll be carrying my automatic knife Sunday morning to church, Sept. 1, 2013.

Keep in mind that's about .02% of the state. If every single CHL showed up at the polls, it would be a blip at best. We just need to keep on supporting those that know what they're doing when they go to Austin, or do it ourselves.

Why are we influential? Cause, for each CHL we contribute to our cause 10X more than any other gun-owner in Texas. Then, a gun owner, contributes like 10X more than a a Ex-Kali Liberal Democrat for his PETA.

Governor Perry, the newswires are reporting that no other issues will be added to the special session. This is extremely concerning and upsetting as I had hoped you would add gun rights legislation, e.g., comprehensive campus carry, general reductions in restrictions on Texas CHLs, and prevention of 30.06 notification abuse by government agencies.

These legislative efforts have broad support in both legislative chambers, but have been thwarted by either Senate rules or House leadership. Your leadership is therefore necessary. Please add these gun rights measures to the special session call.

We made gains this session. They just weren't all the ones that we wanted. We all need to keep in mind that we are a very small segment of the population. We shouldn't start questioning Governor Perry's commitment to gun owners just because he fails to add our pet causes to a special session.

No more renwal class and unintentional failure to conceal no longer a crime are a victory for CHLers. Wish we could have got more but Im thankful for what we got this year.

I don't regard campus carry as a pet issue. If one looks at consequences - the few people who might get in legal trouble for an unintentional exposure are not as important as preventing 30 young people from being killed.

There was no reason for Perry not to actively (using his powers) to let the representatives of the people to vote on this. I would rather have that than cheaper renewals or shorter classes.

Let's hear him explain it. Then he could tell us what a great champion of the RKBA he truly is.

And an even smaller segment of people that actually keep up with what is being proposed and passed in the legislature. I've made it a point to ask quite a few of my friends if they are happy with the bills that were passed this year. Very few even knew there was anything in play much less passed. Some of these fools have gun collections that makes mine look like peanuts.

Talk is cheap. He had the chance to prove what he said. He failed, miserably. I know he won't care, but he lost my vote, for governor or for any other office he runs for.

Most people seem happy with the record number of pro- gun bills passed. As far as I am concerned, all were nothing but crumbs. Nothing of any real substance was passed. No campus carry, no reduction of places CHL's can carry, no open carry, nothing at all. I feel totally disgusted, is the only word I can put here that would not get me banned from this forum, at TX legislators. I will not waste any more of my time, writing letters, emails and calling. I'm done.

Is it disappointing? You bet. But considering we actually gained ground at a time when many in other states are losing their rights, I'd say we came out of this session in pretty good shape. Look at all of the wing-nut bills that were filled & never saw the light of day. Acting like a bunch of spoiled brats who didn't get every single thing on their Christmas list isn't likely to help our cause next session.
