Re: April Application
They must be using the cheapest possible USPS form. First class rarely takes more than two days within Texas. Or maybe they didn't really mail it on the day they said mailed.CedarElm7 wrote:OUTSTANDING, armanius!!! That is great news!!! Won't be long now!armanius wrote:OMG!!!
Background check COMPLETED!!!
No, I still haven't received mine yet; status updated to Background Check Complete on June 6, updated to CHL Mailed on June 7, so maybe today (June 12)--we'll be stalking the mail truck again today! I've been noticing that different posters have indicated the time between update to "Mailed" and actual receipt of the CHL in the mail has varied from as little as 2 days to as many as 14 days, so I'm trying to be patient (again!).
Didn't your wife also apply for a CHL? Is hers also on the "mailed" stage?

Re: April Application
Mine went "Mailed" 5/31 and postmarked 6/4, guessing it sat in the outgoing mail a little while..armanius wrote:CedarElm7 wrote:armanius wrote:OMG!!!

Re: April Application
Still under "background" review...
I'll wait.
EDIT - I just called DPS (phone wait wasn't too long) and was advised it can take up to 3 months from when "I" submitted the paperwork on 4/10. This is due to my DA's showing up on my background.
I did submit all the paperwork and nothing else is needed.
So It appears I have up to another month to wait. I've done my part.
Hopefully this information is helpful to someone.

Yes. Her application has progressed and updated identically to mine, including the "Mailed" date.armanius wrote:

We're hoping the pattern holds and both CHL's arrive in the mail the same day. If not, one of us will be disappointed.

Re: April Application
This aint good. Another day and no license. There is no possible way that they mailed it when they said they did which woukd have been Friday or even Monday. If they did it would have been here today for sure.

I think they have strapped them to a turtle and sent them packing from Austin to their destinationsChillMickelson wrote:Still nothing in today's mail. I guess the guy that walks the envelopes to the mailbox is on vacation.
Re: April Application
The pics I've seen of people's envelopes show that the DPS sends them First Class USPS, which should get to most places in Texas in 1-2 days. They obviously don't actually get them in the mail the same day that they update to "mailed"
Of course there is no way the wait for it to show up after getting mailed will drive me as crazy as waiting in background check status. That was pure torture

Re: April Application
Very true, The Count.
Waiting on the background check was torture for sure. Although I have a totally clean record, the political climate promoted by the current ... errr, ummm ... shall we say, "Federal Administrative Branch" had me concerned that my recent history of (gasp) "purchasing several firearms" since November might have thrown up red flags on my CHL application, even though this is Texas and the CHL process should have nothing to do with the Feds. But that's the kind of paranoia (or at least "concern") being fostered by actions and rhetoric in Washington, D.C., and I'm pretty sure it made me much more nervous during the wait.
Waiting on the inefficiency of the U.S. Mail (to say nothing of the slow speed of some state offices), on the other hand, is something we've all been accustomed to for decades. I can handle it better.
