Welcome to the board, Wilson. I recognize you from the Kel-Tec forums. Apart from my love of the 1911's, I own one P11, two P40's and two 1st Gen P3AT's. Great light-weight weapons, and the P40's are truly a fistfull. I use the Kel-Tec's as my travel weapons since they are so lightweight and easy to conceal.

I believe your expertise and experiencce will go a long way on this forum. This forum is a great place to spend time.

Hi,

I'd like to first thank the forum maintainers for this forum. It's
really nice to have one devoted to TX especially laws are so
state-dependent.

I started shooting w/ my first handgun in 1994, a Glock 17. (I
still have my IL handgun purchase permit from that time frame;
was just looking at it yesterday.) I kind of stopped shooting
for a few years, then restarted when I moved to CA then TX.I'm
really into it the past 6 mo. for unknown reasons :)

Finally decided to get a TX CHL this August. So I don't have my
CHL yet. I just called DPS yesterday and verified that they've
received my application (the person I spoke to also mentioned
that they've mailed my PIN #... which is an extra incentive for
me to check mail) Yes, I check my US mail about once per
week.

I'm a US citizen, but of Chinese nationality... so CHL is needed
here in TX. Ok, just kinding. Actually, almost all the Texans I've
met are very friendly.

Handguns I currently have: Glock 19, SigPro 2009, Bersa
thunder380, Kahr PM9.

Thanks for the welcome.

Actually, I've been living/working in the Austin area for almost 3 yrs.
now. This is really nice place to live, expecially w/ a family. The
slower pace of life here is a welcome change from silicon valley.

I'm trying to convince my wife to go for her CHL... and she's
actually not opposed to it! We'll see.

Ditto what he said.

Good luck in bringing your wife over to the light side. I am still working on my wife. The recent events with Katrina have seemed to help the process.

Hello all!
First let me say I enjoyed the benifit match at PSC yesterday, it's good to see how the "other side" does things.

I've been shooting since I was big enough to aim a gun, I think it was 1965 and I was 5 years old, the gun was my dads Ruger Single Six Lightweight and yes I still have it.

Now I'm 45 years young, work for the Texas Dept of Transportation for 19 years, I'm divorced, 1 son, 1 grandaughter.

I got my CHL in the first group of applicants, or was it the second, oh well as soon as I could. If you run into me, I could have a Compact 45 or a Browning BDA 380, or a S&W 686 3". I also have a Para-Ordnance P16-40 and a Berretta 96 for IPSC matches.

When I'm not at the range I'm on one of my motorcycles. I've been riding 5 years less than I've been shooting.

Keep up the good work, I like this site, later DJ

Welcome, DJ.

I just bought a Single Six on Saturday. It is a gun that I hope to pass to my son one day.

Age: 31

Gender: Male

Profession/school status: Media Tech and working on my bull in MIS at UHCL

Marital status: Single

Years CHL: Hmmmm. I'm a noobie at this.

Texas State Representative House District: Not sure. Wherever Friendswood lands

Carry guns/equipment: Springfield 1911 or Glock 30 or Glock 17L. I use either or combination of Sparks VMII and a fanny pack. It depends on how hot and how much concealment I need I guess.

If you're in Galveston County, then Larry Taylor is your Rep. He's carried legislation for TSRA, so he's clearly on our side.

Since you live in Friendswood, come shooting with us at PSC sometime and see if you like it. Marc and I try to go every Sunday afternoon around 5:00'ish.

I'm in a wierd part of Friendswood where we're not really claimed by anyone, but we pay Harris County property taxes. lol. So I guess we're Harris County. I wouldn't mind to come shoot on Sundays but don't I need to be a member at PSC first? I try to come shoot IDPA every month though.

You can come as a guest. The Board just doesn't want members to bring the same guests several times. The "guest" program is to provide a way for non-members to try the club to see if they like it, or for out-of-town guests to be able to shoot.

Regards,
Chas.
