More gun regulations approved by California Senate

#1

Post by gthaustex »

The California Senate approved more gun regulations yesterday. The bills now go to the California Assembly.

The bills are:

1) Ban on bullet buttons
2) State permits that require background checks for ammo purchases
3) Ban on detachable rifle magazines
4) Prohibit posession of mags that hold more than 10 rounds
5) Redefine certain types of shotguns as assault weapons
6) Require all gun buyers to take safety classes
7) Increase type and definition of crimes to result in longer (10 year) bans on gun ownership

This bill would, instead, classify a semiautomatic, rimfire or
centerfire rifle that does not have a fixed magazine with the
capacity to accept no more than 10 rounds or
fewer as an assault weapon. The bill would require a person
who, between January 1, 2001, and prior to January 1, 2014, lawfully
possessed an assault weapon that does not have a fixed magazine,
including those weapons with an ammunition feeding device that can be
removed readily from the firearm with the use of a tool, to register
the firearm by July 1, 2014.

I hope your not surprised. Senator Feinstein said publicly that she would grab all guns if she could. She has a lot of kindred spirits in CA politics. This is yet another in the death by a thousand cuts method of banning all guns. They are desperately trying to hit an artery.

California voters asked for this when they voted the idiots into office.

I do have sympathy for the poor common sense population who suffer from the actions of elected officials in California. There's a big sign on every major roadway into the Lone Star State that says " Welcome to Texas". They should get a close up look.

What has the micro engraving of the shell casing gone away? They were going to require each gun to micro engrave its serial number on each shell casing as it is fired.

I thought that one already passed.

A co-worker is moving "back" there, and when I pointed out this recent anti-rights push, she told me that was part of the reason she was going. I always thought she was a little crosswise.

They have had the HSC (handgun safety certificate) but it was a test you just took at the counter of the LGS in like 5 minutes. Sounds like they are now requiring a class which is a much bigger time wasting annoyance.

Already the law. Any new handgun must microstamp the cases with a unique ID number.

God please no. Don't be fooled, they haven't learned from past mistakes. They'll come here & vote in the same types that continue to ruin California. We cannot allow Texas to become the next Colorado.

Although I feel sorry for the apparent minority of common sense people left in California I saw what happened in Colorado and the speed in witch it came about , I still can not believe it . We as Texans are one of the few states left that are proud of our past and try to hold on to what has set us apart . I fear the refuges from the liberal states that would influnce our future in even more ways than just gun laws . Few are moving here because of morals , ethics or personal beliefs , it is their taxation and lack of opportunity that motivates them , I feel they will bring their social problems with them as well when they are residents here .
