first time under watchful eyes

#1

Post by 1blonde_qt »

I went out for my wally walk..all went well, I was not nervous and only checked my shirt a couple of times to be sure my pistol wasn't showing..after leaving walmart I went to a local gun shop that caters to leo's..upon pulling in the parking lot I noticed multiple squad cars so before getting out of my vehicle I made certain my pistol was concealed..upon entering I saw at least a dozen uniformed officers..I was in the store for at least 30 minutes and I really was not nervous at all so I figured if I can walk around with that many officers that close to me and feel comfortable with carrying I should be just fine around your average joe that doesn't even look for signs of a concealed firearm..and the gun is rather large compared to my torso (glock 36 subcompact 45), but I love the way it shoots and like the larger caliber..so I guess I passed the newb test! :woohoo :fire

If you like the G36 you need to shoot the XDs.

I just wonder if the LEOs in that shop really had "watchful eyes." I figure if there's over a dozen of them in uniform that they're not going to be eyeballing the civilian clientele to see if they're packing. Who in their right mind would walk into a gun shop with a bunch of cops if they weren't carrying legally? I know what you mean though, I've been to GT Distributors in Dallas a number of times, including when I first got my plastic. There's almost always at least a couple Dallas LEOs there, and I was kinda nervous and doing the shirt-check thing frequently. After a while I got the impression that they weren't exactly on the lookout for concealed weapons among other clientele. It can see how it could boost your confidence around the average citizenry though. Congrats on the new plastic!

Thanks and it was gt distributors in Austin and I understand what you mean.. I used watchful eyes in the title without fully explaining why, so here goes:
I have very long hair and when I was at the gun case I bent over to take a closer look inside, my hair got in the way so when I flipped it out of my field of vision I noticed an officer took a very long, sweeping look at me from head to toe..not sure why just makes you wonder when your new to carrying if it's because your gun has been spotted..I really wanted to check my shirt to make sure my gun was covered but didn't want to draw extra attention to it..not that I was doing anything wrong, just a newb and seeing that I made it through without breaking a sweat does give me confidence in carrying! Pretty cool! :coolgleamA:
