4/6 - Took Initial CHL class with proficiency test
4/9 - Electronic fingerprinting completed
4/9 - Mailed the rest of the required materials to the DPS (opted for them to use my DL photo instead of submitting passport photos)
4/10 - Received confirmation of delivery to the DPS
5/14 - First status update on the DPS website (Background Check: Under Review)
5/19 - Second status update on the DPS website (Manufacturing Pending)
5/21 - Third status update on the DPS website (Manufacturing)
5/22 - Fourth and final status update on the DPS website:

Application: Received
Fingerprints: Complete
Affidavits: Received
DL or ID: Valid
Citizenship: No Documentation Required
Passport Photo Holder: Received
Photo: Received
Proof of Classroom Training: Received
Proof of Proficiency Training: Received
Fee: Received
Background Check: Completed
Concealed Handgun License: Mailed

Now I just have to keep checking the mailbox! I'm hoping it will come in by Saturday... That's my goal. If not, I'll have to wait even longer because it's Memorial Day weekend... Fingers crossed! I'll post one more update when it comes in, including the postmark date and the total time from mailbox to mailbox. Good luck, everyone! Stay patient!

4/11 - delivery confirmation
5/23 - my 1st change in update online straight to "manufacturing pending" all other fields received/completed/valid/not required

I'd like to have received it before the long weekend as we will be traveling by motorcycle, but I am happy to know it is only a matter of days now.

5/16/13 -Background Check Completed; CHL- Manufacturing Pending
5/17/13 - CHL Mailed O YEAH!
5/21/13 -Postmarked
5/24/13 -Plastic in Hand

Background check = 16 days
Mailbox to mailbox = 65 Days

They did use my DL photo, it was better than my passport photo, but why in the heck did I waste to $10 on the stupid thing!

My CHL instructor told us that they could use the DL photo, all you had to do was write that on the form near the picture "Use Drivers License Photo". He was saying that they are also trying to put in place the same thing for the signature, so that they could do away with the form altogether.
