So, You Think the Libtards Will Respect You If....

You support more infringements? You want or need their respect?

Obama is well-known as a intolerant man, an authoritarian who brooks no deviation at all from his party line. Even if for some crazy reason gun-rights advocates wanted to please him, the only way to do so would be to give up our advocacy entirely. Merely leaning in his direction for the sake of “common sense” would achieve nothing except to let him and his allies know we’re suckers who can be manipulated and bent.
Thanks, but no thanks. I will remain a clinger. I do not need their respect. I need them to go away and leave me alone.

You know that is not going to happen. It is part of their DNA to be controlling. They are saving the planet, saving the kids and saving us from ourselves when we drink to much soda out of the same cup.

You and I think people have a right to choose for themselves. Choosing for yourself is just not allowed. You might make bad choices. Bad choices equal things that they don't agree with.

Bad choices. Maybe yes, maybe no. Whether or not a choice is bad depends on whose viewpoint. Them not leaving me alone would be a bad choice on their part. What I do because they will not leave me alone is also a bad choice for them. Nothing good can come from more infringements.

I kinda disagree. The more they infringe, the more people they are gonna tick off. And the more people they tick off, the closer we come to hitting the Constitutional Reset Button.

Excellent point.

Sometimes I forget about speaking in absolutes.

"Good" also depends on the viewpoint.

Something is really going to have to change for the Reset Button to work. The only people getting ticked off are those paying attention. The Drudge headline this morning that 42% of the people don't even know that Obamacare is the law of the land should speak volumes about how many people are actually paying attention. I get really ticked off by the LE over-reach in the Bostom bombing sweep or in the TSA screenings and most people don't know those situations happened.

Too many Americans have their palms over their ears and are saying "Na-na-na-na" as loudly as they can. They don't know what is going on and they don't seem to want to know. Both sets of Pols and the MSM are only too happy to oblige.

I agree, not enough people seem to care these days. As long as they can get their votes in for American Idol that is.

The operative phrase is "low-information voters". They care much more about which Kardashian is with what dude this week than they care about anything of actual consequence...but yet, many of them still vote.

Yes and no. The problem with this type of thinking is that it doesn't take history into account. Only 10-15% of the American colonists supported Indepenance, and only 3-5% actually picked up arms and fought. The rest were either for British rule or were yesteryear's versions of the low-information voter. They just didn't care. Our percentages of those who are ticked off and ready to support a return to Constitutional principles are already at that 10-15% or higher. Those willing to take up arms, however....well, we just don't know at this point.

Admittedly we wouldn't be fighting a tyrannical government half a world away with an ocean between us, but I don't think we have to worry much about our standing military. Unless the ethos has changed dramatically, US Servicemembers won't take up arms against American citizens. And I think we'd pick up fairly broad support from most of our civilian law enforcement agencies. The only things we have to really be concerned about are federal officers, particularly DHS, and the general apathy of the rest of the civilian population.

They're not the only ones forgetting history. We've played this tune before. From 1861 to 1865 to be specific. The army did take up arms against their own fathers, brothers, uncles and neighbors. Estimated death tolls are 10% of northern males from 20-45 and 30% of southern males from 18-40. Over 750,000 military deaths and untold civilian deaths. And that was before the technology to track and survail us like they have today.

We may yet come to armed violence in this country. But any person who wishes for it, who doesn't pray for the avoidance of it is a fool. Because it won't turn out the way they are deluding themselves into thinking it will. They won't be welcomed by the general public as redeemers. They won't have large bands of supporters picking up arms to fight along side of them. They'll be labeled terrorists and hunted like dogs. They'll have their friends, family, and closest loved ones turn against them and drop a dime on them. It won't turn out pretty for those who take up arms. The only way it could ever be won would be similar to Afghanistan against the Russians. And that means bringing our great country to the level of destruction of Afghanistan. How many people are going to have the stomach to support that? How many of the ones to take up arms are going to have the stomach to fight and kill their countrymen? And if in a bizzare twist of fate, the insurrection did succede and the Feds surrendered... What then?

Rather than a constitutional reset, a la the civil war, I think we're heading toward a course correction similar to 1980. Recently, the left has had to rely on the low information voter for affirmation. They came out in droves in 08. They showed up again in 12, but in smaller numbers. I interpret that to mean t that it's getting harder to mobilize a genuinely disinterested electorate. The recent gun debate is further proof of the difficulty that they're having. The administration tried to build momentum & support for their measures and couldn't pull it off. If we hold to our principles & hold our elected officials to those same standards, then we've got a chance to swing this the other way. The only thing that will stop us is if we continue to allow our guys to get drawn into debating their frivolous issues.

I agree. The only way any side wins this is through the ballot box. We have a process that works when we use it. Unfortunately this generation isn't being taught civics, and how the process works because their parents pretty much gave up on it. It's time to remind folks how it works. Nothing is sacred anymore, and nothing is a duty. I was taught it was my duty to participate. One of the few that I have because of the benefits I recieve from the system. Too many people don't believe that anymore.
