Going by what Cotton said the 60 day statute applies to ALL applications, mail in and online. I cannot go get fingerprinted until DPS sends the letter.
Yes, but it seems like I've read in his posts that the 60 day clock does not start until they've received all materials. I take this as meaning your 60 day clock does not start until they receive your fingerprints also. I certainly could be wrong. Perhaps it's when they've got you in the system and the fingerprint letter has been sent.
They received my packet (did app online) the same day as yours, and they just started my background check this week. So I imagine you have to be getting some movement pretty soon.

I called DPS yesterday and confirmed the 60 day code does apply to me. Today is 6 weeks since they got my app and packet and still not in the system. Hopefully soon they will start on it.
Even though the statute applies to me I doubt DPS will be able to complete my app within the next 18 days.

I already know what it is. I was involved in an incident early 2012 which if convicted i would have been disqualified. The case was completely dismissed with ZERO circumstances.. flat out dismissed.. no probation or adjudication.. just dismissed.. so i bet this is what is holding me up. They said could take 3-6months to clear it and they usually only take about 90 days.. so here I wait..
and before anyone asks it was dismissed because my lawyer was able to prove self defense (because it was) behind the scenes with the county prosecutors.
anyway thats my story.. kind of personal but there might be others dealing with the same issues.

I put the "@" because it was within a few days of that day.
As I stated before, you can see where I quoted myself, I was flagged due to a prior incident and this was the cause of my background check taking so long.
Just want to put the information out there for others who might be in a similar situation.
I will update as soon as "Manufacturing Pending" is updated.

I think the issue may have been related to a lot of moving in the past 5 years. I was technically a resident of Rhode Island while going to college in Oklahoma and I just moved to Texas about 10 months ago. You know those blue states, it was probably Rhode Island holding it up out of spite.
I may not have been born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.

I was in your shoes.. I explained my situation starting around page 9 .... Close to 45 day background check for me.
Last check of TXDPS website just completed because.... Da-da-da-Dah!...
Plastic is "Mailed"!!!
Now, substitute website check with the daily mail watch. Why is this so much like Christmas? Jeez, no kidding, I feel like I did 36 years ago as a 10 year old looking through the Daisy BB Gun catalog counting down the weeks and days until Santa would drop off my Spittin' Image 30 shot "rifle".
