Regarding your quote of 46.03(a)(1), where exactly -- in section 46.03 specifically or in chapter 46 as a whole -- do you see "daycare" as part of a definition of "school" or "educational institution"?

What if the church doubles as a private school during the week?

carry whenever and wherever possible. you never know when you'll need it. its not being paranoid, its being prepared.

If the two share facilities (e.g. not in different, separate buildings,) then I'd say it is effectively a school that happens to have religious services on the weekends, and is off limits for CHL carry.Rusty Wrenches wrote:What if the church doubles as a private school during the week?

The probelm is if it is actually an acredited private school, then you could have issues. However, most of those I am familiar with have sepreate or distinct school and church portions. If you can stay out of the school portion you should be OK.JCole wrote:If the two share facilities (e.g. not in different, separate buildings,) then I'd say it is effectively a school that happens to have religious services on the weekends, and is off limits for CHL carry.Rusty Wrenches wrote:What if the church doubles as a private school during the week?

And a church that meets in a public school cafeteria or gym is completely off limits.

Re: Church/Daycare facility
So I attend a Church that sponsors a school on the same property. There are, however, designated school buildings and separate Church buildings. No 30.06 signs posted. Thoughts on carrying while attending services in the Church and ministries in the Church buildings on the weekends? Disarming prior to entering the school buildings is obvious.
What about attending Cub/Boy Scout meetings with my sons on the property in Church buildings in the evenings through the week? I am certain that the Church (NOT the school) is the sponsor of the Scout program.
I very much want to abide by the law while staying armed as much as possible. Thanks for your thoughts.

I assume the school is owned by the church and not the other way around (church owned by school)? If the former, and there is a clear delinage between church and school, then it should no issue to carry in the church buildings.brewster2012 wrote:So I attend a Church that sponsors a school on the same property. Re: Church/Daycare facility
edit: I've removed my post since I spent more time than I should have at work reading several other related topics and came to the conclusion that as long as I don't carry in the school building, or the other building if any school events are going on in them, I should be fine.
