It was just filed on March 7th, the day before the deadline. It hasn't been referred to committee yet.

It's an excellent bill!

Oh wow.! That would be very nice indeed.
CHL's would be allowed to carry nearly everywhere (??) a LEO can carry.
SECTION 5. Sections 46.15(a) and (b), Penal Code, are
amended to read as follows:
(a) Sections 46.02 and 46.03 do not apply to:

<snip>

(5) a person who is carrying a concealed handgun and a
valid license issued under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government
Code, to carry a concealed handgun of the same category as the
handgun the person is carrying.

I like. This takes the superior status from some people and gives the same to all CHL's.

Hmmmm... On closer reading this bill would not allow CHL's in schools (prohibited by 46.03 (1)).
I suppose it isn't realistic to expect that restriction to go away at this time.
This bill is a HUGE step in a good direction, however. Hopefully it will pass into law.

HB3218 exempts CHLs from both TPC §46.02 and §46.03. (See Section 5 of the Bill beginning on page 6.) We would be able to carry everywhere a LEO can carry.

You had previously hinted that something like this was in the works. Is this it or is there another that this is similar to?
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

This is it because it's the most comprehensive. There are other bills that reduce the number of off-limits areas, in case we have trouble with HB3218.

This is my favorite bill of the entire session but is it possible that it was introduced too late to make it to the floor for a vote?
