Unfortunately, yeah. Its still private property, so they can ask you to leave and have you "escorted" if you refuse. You don't have a "right" to be there, and you must observe their wishes.txinvestigator wrote:Of course they can.kw5kw wrote:Ok make a T-Shirt and wear that into Taco Cabana! They can't throw you out for that!

I do not play word games as to whether a sign is compliant or not. As for TB, does not matter, their food is bad I would not eat there even if they were giving it away for free at a NRA/TSRA convention.

Lucky, your math fails to take into consideration that ONE CHL holder who stops patronizing an establishment ususally means their family does as well. Additionally, others sympathetic to the cause who choose to stop eating there will mean ususally that their families stop as well. That 1.2% (or whatever number) needs to include a multipe that takes into account the average family size. I know it cost my family of 4 nearly $30 minimum when we used to go there and we have small children. I have not been to a Taco Cabana in over a year because of unrelated customer service issues. I operate very much on principle. If I do not feel you value my business you will not get my money. They have demonstrated time and time again they do not value my business and their postion on CC only reenforces my continued boycott.

Neal, You said exactly what I was thinking. It's not just 2%.
But for the sake of argument, lets say it is just 2% of there business that they lose. At the level of business the do, 2% is significant. Now consider, most people don't eat alone, make that 4%. Now writing them a letter letting them know that they won't be getting your business gives them an easy explanation as to where that 4% drop in there profits came from.
So, you don't care that Taco Cabanas profits went down 4% (I don't either) and you don't like there food any way (I could take it or leave it). We'll just protest among ourselves and not eat there. Their are plenty of other places to eat.
Do you like Burger King? Well the majority of 'em are franchise, and Carrols, who owns Taco Cabana, also owns more Burger King franchises the any other company. Lets say they decide that there no weapons policy has worked pretty good for Taco Cabana (only a couple letters and they have a form letter ready to respond) Why not do it in there Burger Kings?
Lucky for us they don't own any Burger Kings in Texas. But what if it was to not have any ill effect on the Burger Kings and the policy went company wide. So there goes concealed carry at Burger King. Two places down plenty more where you can still carry.
Now if you want to take this logic (or illogic) to the extreme Texas Pacific Group owns Burger King, and they own or control all kinds of things like Petco, J. Crew, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Continental and America West Airlines. Lucky for us, it looks like they've given up on trying to acquire Home Depot for now since they sank so much in to the TXU buyout.
Do I really think this will happen? No, but it could. There's also the chance that some What-a-Burger Exec. could see the sign and say "Well it hasn't driven Taco Cabana out of business, why don't we try it."
I once saw a signature in a forum that said "If you don't stand for something, then you will fall for anything.".....

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I took some pictures of what appears to be the sign circulated to the stores from the corporate folks at Taco Cabana. This specific one is in Austin at 517 W Martin Luther King Blvd. (MLK & Nueces).
The sign specifically gives a contact number for Taco Cabana on the sign. I'll get a better picture with a readable number if anyone is interested. All I had on me at the time was my phone, which takes pretty cruddy pictures.

Yep. It was the size of a legal-sized paper, although it looked to be a plastic adhesive. And yes, not even close to 1". I posted a listing on texas3006.com.Kalrog wrote:It is too small. Those letters are no where near 1" tall. We aren't even talking a 8/9" close thing... the entire thing fits on a 8.5" x 11" (or maybe 8.5" x 14" legal size) sheet of paper.rspeir wrote:What makes it noncompliant? Is it using § instead of spelling out section? Or is it too small?
+2. I ate there once, prior to becoming interested in obtaining my CHL. The food was so bad and the place so dirty that I swore "Never Again!" Now I have three reasons!Renegade wrote:+1Doug.38PR wrote:If thy don't allow my weapons in, I don't allow my money or hungry stomach in.
