The new TexasShooting.com launching today.

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

Below is a copy of an article I wrote about the newly revamped http://www.TexasShooting.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It has taken months to get this project ready to launch and I probably picked the worst time of the year and legislative cycle to do it.

The site will go live at 6:00pm tonight, but it's also moving to the Virtbiz servers, so it will take a while for the domain name to resolve to the new server.

Thanks,
Chas.
TexasShooting.com wrote:The new TexasShooting.com has been under development for several months and over that period of time a few people have asked if it was going to be a “just another gun website” like dozens of others on the Internet. The answer is an emphatic “no!” It is hard to categorize the new TexasShooting.com, but “online firearms magazine” would be about as close as you could get if you are limited to five words or less.

While TexasShooting.com will have many characteristics of a magazine, it is going to be much much more. We will be publishing articles on various topics, but we also want your input as well. We want to hear from individuals, range owners, club and match officials, just about anyone and everyone involved in the Texas gun-owning and shooting community. Individuals are welcome to submit letters-to-the-editor and articles for publication, without actually subscribing to TexasShooting.com. Shooting ranges, clubs and instructors, as well as shooting matches that have an organizational structure, need to subscribe before submitting articles, announcements or letters. (These are referred to collectively as “Clubs.”) You can find more information about club subscriptions elsewhere on TexasShooting.com.

TexasShooting.com will not be primarily a politically oriented website although these topics will be covered in the State and Local and National News sections and in editorials. (Our sister websites TexasCHLforum.com and TexasFirearmsCoalition.com provide extensive coverage of political and legislative matters, as well as other subjects.) The greater focus will be letting our readers know what’s going on in the Texas shooting world.

Whether you want to find a match close to you, find an instructor or training course, read an honest product review, watch a video, or simply want to read entertaining stories by or about fellow gun owners, TexasShooting.com needs to be your go-to destination on the Internet.

If you are the range owner, club official or match director who would like to spread the word about your events, TexasShooting.com is for you as well. Featured Clubs can post any information they like such as match announcements and scores, social events, classes, as well as any other events you offer. This information can be put on the Featured Club’s customized page on TexasShooting.com and it will also be included in a listing of all upcoming events/matches, and match results. TexasShooting.com can even make event administration much easier with our Event Registration Service (ERS) that automates online registration, optional payment of fees, and automated confirmation and administration emails. (CLICK HERE for more information on the ERS.)

Featured Clubs can also submit videos to be posted on their customized page, or in our video section that will appear on the front page of the website. When the concept of the new TexasShooting.com was discussed with a few clubs and match directors, some indicated they were going to designate someone as the “club reporter/photographer” to write stories and submit photographs to help promote their clubs and events. What a fantastic idea! If you would like to see an example of the customized page by a Featured Club, please see the PSC Shooting Club, Inc. page by clicking on the “Featured Club” in the main menu.

As previously noted, individuals do not have to subscribe in order to submit a letter to the editor or article for consideration for publication. These articles and letters must be noncommercial and they must comply with the TexasShooting.com publication policy. Articles can include autographs and videos, in fact we encourage their submission. Sorry, letters-to-the editor cannot include photographs are videos. Remember, instructors wishing to let folks know about their classes and courses must subscribe to TexasShooting.com. CLICK HERE for information on the two subscription packages available.

Now that the new TexasShooting.com has been launched, we are already working on expansion plans. We are considering adding a feature to create an online TexasShooting.com community much like Facebook, but focusing on Texas gun owners and shooting activities. We want to get your feedback when we get closer to making a go no-go decision on this feature, so we will probably post a poll on our sister site http://www.TexasCHLforum.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. We will make an announcement here on TexasShooting.com if and when the poll is published.

In closing we want everyone to know that a portion of the proceeds from the TexasShooting.com Club Subscriptions and Event Registration Service will go to support the mission of the Texas Firearms Coalition and Project One Million Texas. Please remember, people who own guns are far more likely to help defend the Second Amendment than are people who do not own guns. It’s also true that people who actually use the firearms they own are more likely to help defend the Second Amendment then those who never take their guns out of the safe or closet. Get involved, stay involved and get your friends and family members to do likewise. The Second Amendment is under attack like never before in the history of our nation. (Okay, forgive me if I got a little political.)

Thank you for taking the time to review the new Texas shooting.com. I hope you find our site interesting and entertaining and please check back often.

Chas.
