I heard the news this morning. While I never met the man, you feel like you get to know a little about him and his family from his book.

God speed Chris Kyle and may Christ's peace and mercy comfort your wife and children.

I'm curious to find out if the man who did this heinous crime was on any psychotropic meds, specifically SRIs or similar drugs.

Wasn't he suing Jesse Ventura or some such?
He slapped Ventura.

The way I heard it was Ventura was in a SEAL hangout spewing his typical filth and Chris Kyle took exception to what he was saying and put him in his place.

Ventura does not deserve to clean the mud off of Kyle's boots.

Yeah he's a whack job.

Yall do know Ventura served as a Navy Underwater Demolition Team member (SEAL) during the Vietnam War.

Chris Kyle and his entire family live in my town.
He was a local hero and treasure.
i met him at his book signing. He was one of the nicest guys i ever met.

He will be missed greatly. Half the town will be at his funeral.

RIP Chief Kyle.

Of course, but it has no bearing on the fact that his persona is erratic in the present tense.

As I understand it Ventura is suing Kyle because he says Kyle is lying about slugging him.

The way Kyle explains it in his book, Ventura is technically a Seal, but he isnt one of today's type of seal. Much has changed since Ventura's time & the training & the standards of today are much more rigorous & stringent. Kyle implied that he didnt think Ventura could have qualified to be a modern day Seal.

I don't know if they still have it or not but UDTs are different than SEALS. Same training initially but after that they had training for that specialized in different areas. From what I remember about the book I read the UDTs were more into underwater demo, beach recon and blowing of beach defenses while SEALs did the unconventional warfare.

I got to speak out on this one...the Navy SEALS mission statement does not include Unconventional Warfare!

That is the main stay of the US Army Special Forces.

I heard one story on the radio today that Chris had started a program to help guys coming back from combat with PTSD that he would often take them to the range. Something about it being a familiar setting and having a calming effect. He may have been there with this guy. I also heard that the entire military is taking the loss of this real American hero very hard. Hey, I've been out of the Navy for 25 years, I was not in Special Forces, and I've never met seen or spoken with the guy and I am very saddened by this.

I can't wrap my head around this. I hope the shooter tries to explain why he did it, because it makes no sense to me at all. Chris was trying to help him. The thanks he gets is being shot to death? It might be PTSD, but there's got to be more to it.
