2/3rds of U.S. weapons owners would 'defy' a federal gun ban

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

I have been seriously thinking about this. I have ZERO reason to use any of my firearms against anyone who is not attempting to do violence to me or my family. Therefore, if someone wants to take my guns or to arrest me for violating a new gun control law, that is a political thing. So, basically I would be targeted by my own government as a political dissident. Now, I'm 42 years old and of medium build. I'm a mechanic, and never learned things like hand-to-hand combat, so if I were taken to a Federal prison, I would end up being abused or killed...which I consider to be all-but-government sanctioned torture. And if I am going to forced to die before natural causes take me, I guess I'd rather die on my feet than to live on my knees while being tortured, or to be murdered behind bars like a common criminal.

If it passes, they win.

Some, or most, will fall in line. Victory for them.
Some will bury them, which takes them out of use. Victory for them.
Some will keep them, have them stolen, not report them stolen and they'll be used in crimes so they can push for more draconian measures. Victory for them.
Some will use them for defense and wind up in jail. Victory for them.
Some will make too much noise and be made an example of. "See that crazy man shot at our heroic ATF agents" Victory for them.
The remainder live looking over their shoulder the rest of their days. Victory for them.

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer.
So why bother? Why not just give up?

Thank you RPB. I also thank all of those who have commented; I always pick up hope when I lurk here. I didn't figure when this thing first began that folks in the North would be at the tip of the spear and fully in the fight; I thought that us in the South would experience the first overt attacks. My prayers and thoughts go to them, I only wish I could do more, but I must prepare for our own battles to come. I also don't plan to be put against a ditch, at least willingly. I seen the results of that in Bosnia. No more compromise is now my battle mantra.

I think for those of us 9-5ers that have children to raise what you will see(at least at first) is a passive resistance. "Sorry, sold mine to Jose Martin just before all the laws came down." Now if trouble comes to our house then we will be prepared to meet it.

However if they start this nonsense we need to all understand the rule if law at that time is simply a thin illusion. They can and will make up any offense then to pick up and possibly dispose of anyone they wish. So when everything is illegal, nothing is. So remember where your loyalties lie and act accordingly. As for me I consider anyone who tries this stuff as part of an illegitimate usurping regime that has violated our social contract.

The number will probably be close to 100% in some groups, like gang members and people who can't own guns at all. In for a penny, in for a pound, for them.

But the average American with a 9-5 job and a mortgage and family? They may talk a good game.

I'm pretty sure that's why this mess ticks me off so much...those 20 years...including a lot of time gone from my family, all in the name of accomplishing "the mission" and protecting the nation. So, it really does feel like a stab in the back to see this stuff happen.

It still works. I did have to click it a couple of times before it would successfully load. It's probably getting lots of hits today.

This is exactly right and there are many more of us who have the training, skills and abilities that was provided by Uncle Sam out there. I might be getting too old and broken up to provide an active offense, but I sure can be a part of the patriot's logistics tail, no matter how old I get.
