Gotta love dishonesty in the media.
The Rev. Bruce Buchanan, an organizer of the church's gun buyback, said the event was a way for his church to give back after feeling helpless following the Connecticut school shooting. The church has been holding such events for more than a decade.
Right. They haven't had a buy back event in 6 years.
"We see it as a reflection of our community ministry," Buchanan said. "We're providing an opportunity for people to make their homes safer."
Notice he didn't say who these homes were safer for? Only people I can think of who would be "safer" by this is criminals because the victims can't fight back. :banghead:

Andy, the first guy was Pastor Stephen Broden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Broden). The second guy was Bishop John L. Lawson (http://lawsonfor23.com/about/)

Bishop Lawson just sent me this youtube video link of his speech in an email I just got from him. Here it is:

I think the Bishop's daughter must have shot the video on her cellphone. I wish that one of us had gotten video of Pastor Broden. Both of these men are something special.

Sorry it took me so long to post again, but it has been a whirlwind during and after the rally. Thank you to all that came out and special thanks to Fusion Security, the Dallas Tea Party, comp73, theannoyedman, and andyc for their help in the setup and execution of the recue and the rally. It don't know what I would have done without you.

Thank you to Pastor Brooden and Bishop Lawson for their powerful speeches at the end.

With the help of those mentioned above, look for much more activity from The Right Group. A new and improved webite is on its way, thanks to theannoyedman and more activity with gun rescues are being planned with Fusion Security and comp73. The next issues that will be pushed are concealed carry on campus and open carry with support from the Dallas Tea Party.

The only real weapon that we have against what is hapening is our voice. It was lound and clear Saturday so let's keep up the momentum and hit them again.

We will not go quietly into the night!

I have the whole thing - I'll upload it now.

I've also added what was on the back of my sweat-shirt to CafePress (just in case) - along with an AK47 variant ;)
That was funny! I also liked that other t-shirt that said, "raise your right arm if you like gun-control," with the picture of Adolf doing his best Sieg Heil!

I had family commitments and didn't make it down there until ~ 2:45 pm. I got to say hello to Pastor Broden and Bishop John L. Lawson, but pretty much everything was over.

I did see several other friends, the usual suspects, that show up at most conservative events. You know the type: they support the 2nd Amendment; believe in the Constitution; push for limited government; are against anarchy. The 'radicals' that I associate with help me believe that I am on the right side with this event.

It is good to see that there was some positive media coverage on a few outlets.

I got a good bargain on a revolver that someone wanted to sell and they showed up after the auction and gun buy back were over. It's funny, I took my new toy (Taurus .357 Magnum revolver) to church to show a few friends (in a case and unloaded) and my pastor saw it. He said "Wow, that is a sweet gun you just got. I know that I am well protected in my pulpit". A handful of others and I are usually carrying in our church. I am proud that I go to a church where my pastor supports the 2nd Amendment. He took his CHL class with a few other guys from our church. Several guys at church want to know about any more upcoming 'Gun Rescues'.

I've been to this site a few times, but with the aggressive push by our government to eliminate our civil rights, I am going to be on here more now.
