Re: "Waiting Room"
Venting is nice. Sense all I wanted to do was get it before Christmas but from the way things are rolling. I'm guessing I will be one of those waiting for over 60 days. :-(
Anybody on here have a completed non resident process they would like to share. With dates would love to hear what another non resident waited.

Just wanted you to know that I feel your pain. I am in your same boat and am going on 6 weeks in background. Stay strong!

Re: "Waiting Room"
Took class last Saturday(Dec 14), mailed packet this morning. With holidays coming up, sure that will slow things down a bit more, but it the process is going. List of things to do in mean time -
1. Plenty of dry firing and holster drawing/carrying practice
2. As much range practice as possible
3. Be watching for 51% - 30.06 signs where ever I go
4. Continue to play "what if" scenerios....seem to do that a lot lately
5. Refrain from checking status daily...

Re: "Waiting Room"
Ok, newbie here but thought I'd share my experience so far (btw, this really helps people as they go through this application process and thanks to all who came before me):
Application submitted: 12/9/12 - Online submission of documents; 12 / 10 /12 mailed the documents
Received by DPS : 12/13/12
Background under review: 12/14/12
Background complete: 12/18 /12
Manufacturing: 12 /19 /12
Mailed: 12 / 20 / 12
Plastic in hand: 12 / 24 / 12
Woo Hoo!
Online is the way to go. Note I also suggested they use my DL photo on record, which they did. That may have accelerated the manufacturing...

Re: "Waiting Room"
Here is my timeline so far...
Online Application: 11/26/12
CHL CLass/Fingerprints: 11/30/12
Submitted Documents: 12/03/12
Received by DPS: 12/05/12 (sent return receipt required)
Background Review: 12/31/12 (Under Review)
26 days to get a status change from "waiting to receive documents" to "under review".
Expecting review to take as long or longer.
CHL class trainer said at the time (Nov 30) that the average was up to 8-10 weeks at that point for clean applications.
TX DPS will probably process well over 200,000 applications in 2012. (180k last year)
My bet is that will increase to 250k+ for 2013.
Which makes me feel good that the trained population is catching up on the bad guys!

Re: "Waiting Room"
I notice BigHatNoCows' application took 26 days to go from awaiting documents to under review. Should I wait at least this long to call DPS being that I mailed the documents December 13th, 2012?

Re: "Waiting Room"
they get (i think) 60 days from receipt to completion, which means Feb 12(at the earliest) before they will stop saying "please wait the minimum 60 days"Bitter_Clinger wrote:Should I wait at least this long to call DPS being that I mailed the documents December 13th, 2012?
What does your online status show so far?
