Headed home for Christmas today so I brought an Scoped AR, a Scoped 10/22, and two Glocks; all in one case.
Easy breezy at the check in counter. As always I ask for Firearms Dec card, and as always the agent handed one over relatively descreetly. Agent calls out "oversize" and someone comes over to walk me to the TSA drop for oversize bags.
Arrive at drop off and the agent says, "I'll need your keys to unlock the case." TSA policy at DFW airport is that they do NOT open a rifle case. I tell him that is not the procedure. He snaps back "That's how I do it." I calmly reply "Could you grab a supervisor?"
He calls supervisor and the supervisor reaffirms what I told him about the policy. He swabs the the outside of the case and then tells me I good to go.
I start to walk off and immediately turn around to make sure he puts my case on the belt (I had a case broken into at DFW about 3 months ago). He launches my case from at least 5' away and every bit of 5' in the air. This of course makes me livid.
I told him that I will need that supervisor to come down. He replies " The supervisor doesn't want to come down." I reply " Get him here now, or I will gladly meet him where he is."
Supervisor comes down and I ask politely ask him two questions.
#1) Is it TSA's policy to let individual Officers (chuckle) make up policies? If not, could he review their checked weapons policy with everyone under him.
He responds no, and to his credit seemed upset at the guy.
#2) I informed him that the during the Officer's little temper tantrum he had thrown my gun case. I then asked the supervisor if he had something valuable that he cared for and had entrusted to a federal employee how he would feel to see it being flung about.
Again the supervisor seemed concerned and told me that neither problem would happen again.

TSA workers work for 11.00 per Hr. Most don't give a #2 about our stuff. Normally the lack of respect for others property takes affect behind our backs. It doesn't sound like a gun issue. Just ignorance.
). I've been looking at pelican cases but I haven't seen one that looks like it can carry 2 rifles and 2 handguns. I'm not a very strong woman so I'm looking for something with wheels.
I'll look at both these. If I can get something a little cheaper than a Pelican than I'll take a look. It may mean the left over $ can go to a box of ammo or 2. I'm going to look at that Pelican too. I like the durability of Pelican cases but they can get expensive.
