Found an intriguing link:

I'm planning a trip from Texas to Florida (mostly friendly states) with my CHL and thought this might be a good resource. Any thoughts? Worth the time?

Re: Traveler's Guide to Firearms Laws
I bought a copy a few years ago. It is a convenient handbook. It was accurate with regard to Texas law at that time. You need to buy a current copy, because laws change frequently (in many other states they can change overnight, not like Texas).
It's written in plain non-legalese English. Reading statutes can be misleading, because you don't know the legal background or case law around those statutes.
That said, there's nothing in it that you couldn't find online if you spent the time and printed out the information. I guess it's a question of how much your time is worth versus $12 or whatever the book costs.

If you have a smartphone, there is at least one app for that. That is what I rely on, and it's been reliable.

Much more reliable, in my opinion, is the information published by the NRA and Hangunlaw.US
Http://NRA-ILA.org/gunlaws" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Http://handgunlaw.us" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They cover detailed sections for the laws in each state, as well as federal standards.
Have a safe trip.

Can you shoot me the name of the app? My wife has a smartphone, but I'm pretty ignorant of the smartphone skill-set!! Searching by name seems easier...Rex B wrote:If you have a smartphone, there is at least one app for that. That is what I rely on, and it's been reliable.

CCW - Concealed Carry 50 State Guide
Legal heat - 50 state guide to Firearm Law.
I have used the latter, both are 5-star rated.
Both are also available on Android or iPhone

Re: Traveler's Guide to Firearms Laws
I travel back and forth from Texas to Georgia often. Went up to Virginia and DC this past summer. Very few worries. However, one thing that several of the states vary on is "establishments selling alcohol". Some of the states (you need to look up which) don't allow carry inside any establishment that sells alcohol.
I use the CCW app.

They also vary widely in how a business may post their place off-limits.
Our 30.06 signage requirement may be the most stringent in the nation.
Many, if not most, will let them post a gunbusters sign or almost anything else, and it carries the force of law.
