Sig P226 Lone Star Edition

Just ordered my wife the P226 Lone Star Edition. Pretty excited for it to arrive, it should be a beauty. I'll post pics as soon as it arrives!

Yes, indeed! From the pictures, it appears Sig did a marvelous job on this one. Very curious to try out the SRT, as the P-series I've shot before had a standard trigger.

Um, you're aware that the Lone Star Edition does not have an SRT, yes? You'll have to order an SRT kit from Midway USA (they're about $50: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/567973 ... sauer-p226" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

I nearly ordered one when I first heard about them, but then I saw the promo picture and noticed the rail. I just can't bring myself to want a sign P22X with a rail under normal conditions. IF they do a P220 like this or drop the rail on the P226 I will reconsider.

P220 in a Lone Star edition is possible if there is enough demand.

P226 unrailed? I don't see that happening going forward. An accessory rail is now considered pretty standard for a full-sized handgun.

I know there have been some unrailed P226s made recently (last 3 years or so), but they were distributor exclusives or made specifically for a large customer (I forget which) so a new production unrailed P226 is not impossible, but I doubt a lone star edition w/o rail will happen. To be honest I figure there will be a lonestar edition of the P238, P938, ect. seeing as how sig likes to produce a new variant across several lines if for no other reason than creating additionals SKUs.

I was actually not aware of that. The information sheet I had found showed DA/SA with the SRT. Seeing as you are a dealer, who has had the firearm in his possession, I guess there is no SRT on there. Does the Lone Star come with night sights?

I carry a SIG Elite Dark (http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductD ... arrel.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) that I have occasionally let people handle to compare to the Lone Star edition, in part to demonstrate the SRT.

The Lone Star edition definitely comes with SIGLite night sights though. It's a great gun, and definitely collection-worthy. The only two things I make sure my customers know is a) doesn't have a short reset trigger and b) the wood grips increase the circumference of the grip by about .2" (for some people, like me, its noticeable)

I no longer have one in stock though, somebody saw it and threw down cash so fast that I think it left a contrail

I should add: Some people think the SRT is pretty cool, and I wouldn't have it any other way, but I'm not convinced it's a good idea in the hands of an inexperienced shooter. The reset is so short that it's easy for the untrained to double/triple tap without wanting to (and with the expected rapid muzzle rise - bad combination).

OK, great. I was worried after re-reading the promo sheet that it didn't have the SIGLites. Since it will be my wife's gun, I think the lack of SRT may be a good thing, due to the reasons you mentioned.

Now I just want it to arrive!

It has arrived! The grips look a lot nicer in person than they do in the promo document! Cleaning it tonight, then it'll get it's first range trip on Sunday!
