Re: Texas travel thru Ok. and Ark.
I have an iPhone app called "legal heat". I think I paid a buck for it. I can check all states rules on the fly from my iphone or iPad. Bet y'all didn't know I was cool enough to own an iPad.

I have the Legal Heat app as well as the published book. The only problem is that I have not seen an update for over a year. I wonder if they are still in business?

Hmmmmm! That could be trouble. The laws can change or be modified at any time in any of the states. Now that you have mentioned this, I have not recieved an update since I originally bought the app. I appreciate you pointing that out. They have a disclaimer on the app. It is aparently a "use at own risk" type app.johnson0317 wrote:I have the Legal Heat app as well as the published book. I too am about to head out from DFW thru Ark. and OK. back home to TX.The Annoyed Man wrote:I don't know why this hasn't gained any traction on this forum, but the single most useful tool I've found for traveling with a concealed handgun is: http://apps.carryconcealed.net/packngo/. Anybody who carries concealed and travels ought to have this one bookmarked. It not only shows you state reciprocities, but it allows you to select multiple states from a map and then gives you useful information about each of those states.
And in the OP's case specifically: http://apps.carryconcealed.net/packngo/ ... ,arkansas,
This website is no longer up :(
Anyone know if this website is rebranded or a new go-to source for quick pointers before I head out?
thx

Try http://www.handgunlaw.us" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I use this and it is a really good resource.kP380 wrote:I too am about to head out from DFW thru Ark. and OK. back home to TX.

I agree with Keith about handgunlaw.us, but I'd also like to point out the NRA-ILA.org website also has a great section on interstate travel as well as gun laws by state.

I have it on my iPad and on my iPhone, and it does not update. Wisconsin is still listed as a tombstone.george wrote:03Lightningrocks wrote:Hmmmmm! That could be trouble. My "Legal Heat" app on my iPhone doesn't update the app, but anytime I open up a particular state, it updates the laws pertaining to that state, from within the program.

Re: Texas travel thru Ok. and Ark.
Oklahoma gun law is found at: http://www.ok.gov/osbi/documents/SDA_La ... V_2012.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It pretty well parallels Texas law with one difference and that is a broad prohibition to carrying in government buildings. This could be a trap for the traveler as I would interpret the following to prohibit concealed carry in the Oklahoma tourist centers similar to the one found on Northbound Interstate 35. This is a facility that is manned and offers travel advice, free coffee, and rest facilities.
TITLE 21 § 1277 UNLAWFUL CARRY IN CERTAIN PLACES
A. It shall be unlawful for any person in possession of a valid handgun license issued pursuant to the provisions of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act to carry any concealed or unconcealed handgun into any of the following places:
1. Any structure, building, or office space which is owned or leased by a city, town, county, state, or federal governmental authority for the purpose of conducting business with the public;
