Sounds like she had a bit of experience in drug buys already. Not that I'm condoning the blackmailing ...The officer who pulled her over found a glass pipe and the prescription medication Suboxone

I would not jump to conclusions, all we hear is her side. I am very pleased with Friendswood PD, due to their efforts we have the lowest crime in the area. Read their crime blotter every week and it will give you a better appreciation for their work.

When I lived in that area, my contacts with the Friendswood PoPo was always cordial. Obey traffic signs and you're fine. Speed and you're fineD
(No, I've never received a traffic ticket from the Friendswood police )

Isn't that how cops get most CI help? Offer not to arrest in exchange for help catching bigger fish.

Doesn't take much.
§ 481.125. OFFENSE: POSSESSION OR DELIVERY OF DRUG
PARAPHERNALIA. (a) A person commits an offense if the person
knowingly or intentionally uses or possesses with intent to use
drug paraphernalia to plant, propagate, cultivate, grow, harvest,
manufacture, compound, convert, produce, process, prepare, test,
analyze, pack, repack, store, contain, or conceal a controlled
substance in violation of this chapter or to inject, ingest,
inhale, or otherwise introduce into the human body a controlled
substance in violation of this chapter.
Re: Friendswood police take a traffic ticket a bit too far.
The story alleges she had a prescription for the Suboxone, so maybe she could possess the glass pipe legally (to legally use her prescription). However, Suboxone is a narcotic generally used in the treatment of opioid dependence, which implies she is an addict.
Edit: however, in reading about it online, it looks like the Suboxone comes in a tablet, and is probably not intended to be smoked.

I take news media reporting with a big grain of doubt.
I'll take a wait and see attitude.

IDK, Starsky used to pay $20 to his informant, if I recall correctly.recaffeination wrote:Isn't that how cops get most CI help? Offer not to arrest in exchange for help catching bigger fish.

Seems to me she could have taken the tickets (deserved by the sound of it) and been on her merry way. Sounds like it was her choice to me.

They sure sound like one of Obama's 47%
We declare our right on this earth to be a man, to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary.

thats funny. friendswood is full of rich white people. i think its about 98% white ofcourse it has low crime.ive lived there for 33 years and yes the friendswood police take anything too far for anything more then a minor traffic stop.its too bad they cant get the underage drinking under control but that would mean arresting all of the parents for buying their kids the alcohol.lol
Re: Friendswood police take a traffic ticket a bit too far.
Something seems fishy about this story.
1. She had drug paraphenailia on her and she was taking a medication the helps with drug dependancy, but says she had never bought drugs before...hmmm
2. She was charged with a traffic violation but was blackmailed with the threat of jailtime. What is the maximum sentence for a traffic ticket?
Do you really think the LEO's just randomly picked the next traffic stop to blackmail for a drug sting operation?
If the police pulled me over for speeding and told me I had to go by drugs or else, I would put my hands out so they could cuff me and ask to call my lawyer.
I think we only have one side of the story. I will wait until I hear the rest before I make up my mind.
