well if the math is correct his best hope is a 3% margin... after all there is that 47% issue

For me, the division comes with which party will be most likely to support heavier gun regulation. I am not married to the parties. I am, however, very attached to my right to own firearms and carry them with "gasp!" more than 10 bullets in them. When whichever incompetent leaders in office finally allow our nation to totally collapse financially, I don't want to hold off the roving gangs of thieves with a dull butter knife and a "no guns allowed" sign.
