Uh oh...

Another non-sporting event held at a facility that normally doesn't allow carry into that facility...

My advice...Go to the event, park your vehicle secure your weapon in the vehicle, lock it up and go enjoy the concert...

Reverse procedure on your way out...

Sorry, thats what I would do if I was going to that event...

Yeah, thats the downside...But...

I will say that I have in recent past have felt a lot better walking around in downtown Houston at night...

We (Wife Unit and I) went to a hockey game at the Toyota Center and parked across the street in the parking garage for that facility, and felt pretty good about it...We locked our firarms up inside a little safe we have in the vehicle, and proceded to the game...

I've noticed that the vagrancy and homelessness folks not being as prevalent in the area around the stadiums in the downtown area...

Of course my head was on a swivle the whole time, and I noticed that fact...So I felt a little more at ease...I can say things might be getting a little better around the area...

Good luck, be safe, and by all means have a great time...

I agree....Downtown has really been revamped over the last few years. My wife and I frequent there and even though I carry...it is just by habit. If I have to leave it in the vehicle, I still feel "safe" in the surroundings but by no means "unaware" of them.

Going to Paul McCartney at Minute Maid in November.
It's a non-sporting event at a gov't owned facility so there really shouldn't be any way they can prohibit a CHL holder from carrying, that I can think of.

I plan to carry, BUT... will arrive early in case they won't let me in and I have to hike back to the car to lock it up.

I went to an Astros game a couple of weeks ago, and the walk to the car after the game was a bit scary.

Minute Maid Park is owned by the Harris county sports authority and the city of houston and is not by state law allowed to post during anything other than a professional sporting event, concerts don't qualify. none of the sporting venues are privately owned and may not post 30:06, they can post but not enforce them. they also cannot refuse you entry, they might but its not enforceable. but as they say, you can beat the rap but not the ride. so its up to you

Yeah, I was thinking about this very subject today.

Seeing as "Sir" Paul is the very epitome of a liberal Brit, can you imagine how freaked out he would be if he realized there were real live Texans with guns in the audience. "rlol" "rlol"

Somehow, I don't envision Jimmy Buffet as being quite so alarmed at the prospect.

At least he didn't bump a thread from when it was called Enron Field. :biggrinjester:

FYI...
Carried in Minute Maid during the McCartney concert last night.
No problem / no metal detectors / no hassles.

There was one sign listing items prohibited in the stadium - weapons, bottles, any projectile that could be thrown (like loose change, I suppose)

I also chose to CC to the concert as well. When we were at the restaurant beforehand I got a very nice smile from the wife when she asked if I was prepared. Def felt a bit more secure walking back to the car afterwards.

I thought that he did a great show.

Oh, and as for the "prohibited items" sign, the wife isn't down with all the 30.06 lingo, etc. She pointed it out to me a bit wide eyed. The last entry on the sign was along the lines of "no objects to be thrown." My only response was "If it gets to where we're throwing things, it's been a bad night."
